The newest Marvel's Avengers skin is a stylish homage to Hulk's gray alter ego and a retro comic storyline. Crystal Dynamics' multiplayer superhero title has been criticized for its lack of content and microtransactions, but its unique cosmetic items have often received praise. While many gamers are excited by a new MCU movie skin in Marvel's Avengerslike Thor's recently-added armor from his first film, comic designs are also a major draw.

Upon release fans were unhappy with the selection of outfits available in Marvel's Avengers, with the game's wardrobe dominated by simple recolors of only a handful of skins. However, over time Crystal Dynamics has rectified this issue by bolstering the lineup of Marvel's Avengers skins with live-action MCU looks pulled from Avengers: EndgameThor: Ragnarok, Captain America: Civil War and more. These MCU suits are among the most recognizable appearances for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but countless comic storylines give Crystal Dynamics decades of design history to use. Recently Marvel's Avengers added Time Runs Out Hawkeye, a skin pulled straight from a 2012 Marvel Comics storyline.

Now Marvel's Avengers (via Twitter) has revealed the Strange But True Outfit for Hulk, which is inspired by a 1989 comic storyline. While the unstoppable Avenger is typically green, the more intelligent and conniving Gray Hulk persona has appeared frequently over the years. One particular story sees Gray Hulk serve as a mafia enforcer in Las Vegas, and this appearance is what inspired the striking black-and-white design in Marvel's Avengers. The outfit's color scheme almost appears cel-shaded, making it a truly unique look for Ole' Jade Jaws. Fans can get Hulk's Strange But True Outfit from the Marvel's Avengers Marketplace starting April 21.

While the game has experienced a content drought since last year, Crystal Dynamics recently announced that Jane Foster Thor is coming to Marvel's Avengers as the game's next playable superheroine. Tying into the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder, the DLC will see Jane wield Mjolnir and use many of the God of Thunder's signature abilities. However, Crystal Dynamics also promises that Mighty Thor will possess her own unique skills to help her stand out. Jane Foster is expected to arrive over the summer as part of update 2.5, which is set to follow a smaller update in May.

Among an onslaught of Marvel Cinematic Universe skins, the Strange But True Outfit is a refreshing throwback to old-school Hulk comics and the Gray Hulk persona. The unique black-and-white aesthetic makes it look like he smashed right out of a comic book panel and is unlike any other skin for the Strongest Avenger. While the game is in dire need of actual content, Marvel's Avengers continues to impress with its cosmetic additions.
