An unusual line in the new Marvel's Avengers expansion, War for Wakanda, suggests that the mystical Scarlet Witch will soon be added to the game's roster. Crystal Dynamics' action title starring Earth's Mightiest Heroes got off to a rough start when it launched back in September 2020. However, the game has slowly been drip-fed new content, with the Black Panther - War for Wakanda expansion being the game's latest and largest update to date.

Black Panther - War for Wakanda is said to be a fresh start for Marvel's Avengers after nearly a year of critical backlash. The expansion puts focus on Black Panther, an iconic Marvel hero who also acts as the king of the African nation of Wakanda. The futuristic setting serves as the game's newest explorable region, allowing players to embark on various missions within Wakanda's lush jungles. A new enemy faction, the Klaue Company, also shakes up Marvel's Avengers' combat using several new mechanics and attacks.

A very interesting line in War for Wakanda, posted to Reddit by FWM_Carlton, seems to suggest the Scarlet Witch as an upcoming addition to the game's playable roster. The recent expansion introduces Zawavari, a Wakandan mystic who greets the playable character when the approach. However, while approaching as the Thunder God Thor, FWM_Carlton was instead greeted by a voice line that seems to address Wanda Maximoff instead. Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, is a staple of the Avengers team and has appeared within the MCU portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen.

War for Wakanda seems to have erroneously revealed future plans for Marvel's Avengers, although Crystal Dynamics has not officially announced additional content. The developer has stated that Spider-Man is still coming to Marvel's Avengers after being announced back before the title's launch last year. Spider-Man will be available exclusively on PlayStation, which is sure to form a rift between the game's already fragile player base. When players can expect to see the wall-crawling hero, or any other future Marvel's Avengers content, is currently unknown.

Black Panther - War for Wakanda may be the last chance for Marvel's Avengers to win back its player base. The expansion adds an abundance of new content, including some quality-of-life improvements to shape the game's future. With the accidental tease towards Wanda Maximoff, it seems that Crystal Dynamics is quite confident that the superhero brawler will continue to receive support for the foreseeable future.
