2K Games is reportedly working on a handful of really exciting new games, such as a Borderlands spin-off and a Marvel-based XCOM game. Although none of this is confirmed, reputable sources have verified the legitimacy of the existence of the Borderlands and Marvel XCOM game, but it's not entirely clear if they'll be revealed at E3 or not.

It's already been confirmed that Gearbox is making a new Borderlands game, although some fans may have assumed that would be Borderlands 4. It doesn't appear that will be the case, as Gearbox and 2K look to expand the IP in big ways. With Borderlands also getting a film adaptation, something that won't be directly connected to the games, 2K is clearly trying to make it a multi-media brand. With that said, it wouldn't be surprising if the new entry is expected to release around the time of the film.

A new leak from Reddit user swine_flu_greg (via VGC) has revealed a number of exciting games from publisher 2K. Although it's easy to shrug off rumors from Reddit, reputable industry insider Jason Schreier and VGC confirmed the list is legit. The most noteworthy of the list is an XCOM-inspired game with Marvel characters from Firaxis, the team behind XCOM and Civilization. The leak notes that famous actors may voice the characters, but it's unclear if it's the actors from the MCU films.

Another noteworthy game mentioned is a new Borderlands game centered around Tiny Tina, though it'll still be in the style of the mainline entries of the franchise. The leak also mentions NBA 2K22 and a new open-world sci-fi game described as "Cthulhu meets Saints Row", seemingly from Hanger 13. It's unclear if all or just some of these titles will appear at E3, as they appear to be in various states of development. That said, parent company Take-Two will have an E3 presentation, which could include some of these titles.

Marvel has been radically expanding with its games and with a Guardians of the Galaxy game rumored for E3, it sounds like the massive superhero brand could have a relatively noteworthy presence at the show. Although Marvel used to rely rather heavily on movie tie-in games, the company has been trying harder to make new and worthwhile blockbuster titles in the medium, while also seemingly experimenting with unlikely genres like turn-based strategy.

Regardless of if these games make an appearance at E3 2021, it's clear 2K Games has a lot of exciting games brewing. There's pretty much something for everyone, whether they're XCOMMarvel, or Borderlands fans or those looking for a unique open-world title, it's an exciting time to be a gamer and suggests this console generation will be filled with plenty of interesting titles.
