Warning! Spoilers for Fantastic Four #23 below

Wolverine isn't the easiest superhero to get along with and his penchant for killing makes him occasionally worrisome to his superteam partners. Logan is anything but predictable. So, when he joined the Fantastic Four in a mission to fight against the Cotati invasion of Earth, he needed to be reminded that he needs to take the violence down a notch.

With the original Fantastic Four team fighting against the Kree/Skrull alliance and the Cotati, Valeria and Franklin Richards called on the help of Spider-Man and Wolverine to help them deal with the attack on Earth. The Marvel heroes dawned their old Fantastic Four uniforms and fought against the Cotati's Dark Harvest. However, as Wolverine prepared to take names and kill some of the invaders, he had to be reminded the Fantastic Four don't kill people.

In Fantastic Four #23 by Dan Slott, Paco Medina, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Caramagna, New York has been turned into a literal urban jungle, as plants have enveloped the city as the Cotati's takeover is in full effect. With Cotati soldiers threatening death on all of the "livestock" that opposed to their new rule, the new Fantastic Four swing into action to protect humans caught in the crossfire. Wolverine dives from the Fantasti-Car and lunges at the Cotati, but before he can sink his claws into the wooden creature, he's reminded that the superteam uses other means than killing to take down their opponents.

Wolverine Killing

Wolverine's threat to the Cotati that he'll turn the soldier into a "pile A' mulch!" is immediately met by Franklin telling Logan to "go easy on the killing. We don't do that in the FF." Spider-Man is quick to quip that he doesn't kill either and that he's all "thwip-thwip," and not "snikt-snikt" like his fellow hero.

Fortunately for the Cotati soldiers, Wolverine obeys Franklin's orders. Spider-Man even suggests he should try talking to them instead of killing. Even though Wolverine relents on turning the Cotati into firewood, his immediate kill-or-be-killed response shows that he's not the best at the whole superhero business. He's a natural killer and likes to make things bloody when possible. He's still an extremely valuable asset to both the X-Men and Fantastic Four, but in this case, he had to dial things back and be a better superhero. It's a good thing Wolverine doesn't care how others view him.
