Jeffrey Wright, voice of The Watcher in Marvel's What If...? has teased that he could be more involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What If...? is Marvel Studios' first animated series that has released on Disney+, and fans are already loving it. Marvel Studios has helped Disney+ massively grow its subscriber base already through all of the shows the studio has been releasing.

Marvel's What If...? is a series that follows The Watcher as he guides viewers through the vast multiverse of the MCU. He serves as a character that is very similar to Rod Serling's role in The Twilight ZoneWhat If...? will have many different takes on previous MCU stories, with the first episode having shown Peggy Carter (voiced by Hayley Atwell) get the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers (voiced in the show by Josh Keaton). There will be other exciting stories explored, such as T'Challa (voiced by Chadwick Boseman) becoming Star-Lord instead of Peter Quill and members of The Avengers turning into zombies. The cast is stacked with many returning actors and actresses from the MCU, including Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillan, Natalie Portman, and Josh Brolin.

Now, Jeffrey Wright has discussed a bit more of The Watcher's role in the show and the wider MCU. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Wright talks about the future of his character, while keeping with Marvel Studios' knack for staying very quiet about their projects until they are ready to talk. While his comments are vague, they do give a hint as to what could be coming up for the MCU. Check out what Wright had to say below:

"We'll see where he goes. We'll see how dispassionate he is about all of this. But I mean the first time we see him on the moon in Fantastic Four, he finds himself in the middle of this cold war, east versus west, proxy battle. And he kicks some ass, he's awesome, man. I mean, he's not to be toyed with, The Watcher. Don't get it twisted, I'm observing until I'm not, at least in that instance. So yeah. There's some fun stuff to be had with him. We'll see where it goes."

The Watcher What If Jeffrey Wright

Wright's comments are certainly interesting in regards to how his character will be presented going forward in the MCU. From this, it seems as though he very well may getting involved with the events that happen as the series goes on. From recent trailers and footage released, it seems as though the multiverse characters could possibly join forces, so The Watcher could have something to do with their assemblage. He could also show up in other MCU projects that are coming out in the future. One of the best guesses would be Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Since that film will be dealing with the effects of the broken multiverse set up in Loki, it wouldn't be too surprising to see The Watcher in some capacity. He could perhaps show up to warn Strange about the fractured multiverse, or somehow show him what has been happening.

While it remains to be seen where and how The Watcher could become more involved in the MCU, it is clear that there is more to What If...? than the first episode has revealed so far. It will definitely be exciting to see where the show goes next. If Jeffrey Wright's statements about his character do end up meaning more involvement from The Watcher, fans will surely be excited to see where he pops up next and in what capacity. The first episode of What If...? is now streaming on Disney+.
