A Funko Pop inspired by Marvel’s animated anthology series, What If…?, on Disney+ reveals King Killmonger vs. Ultron. 2018’s Black Panther is hailed as one of the best films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is thanks in no small part to its central antagonist, Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger, the long-lost cousin of Wakanda’s King T’Challa, aka the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). Despite his demise at the end of the film, MCU fans long for his return in some way, shape, or form.

Marvel Studios’ first foray into animation will be the Disney+ series What If…?. Narrated by Uatu the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright), the series will explore the path not taken for many MCU characters—who will be voiced by their original actors. Alternate outcomes of important events and confirmed storylines include Peggy Carter becoming Captain America instead of Steve Rogers and T'Challa becoming Star-Lord instead of Peter Quill. Reports have also circulated that episodes will feature the return of Ultron and even Killmonger. Now, a new piece of merchandise offers a closer look at those two characters in What If…?

A leaked look at What If…? Funko Pops via DisTrackers on Twitter reveals “King Killmonger.” The latest addition to these cool collectibles sees Killmonger wear the same Golden Jaguar vibranium armor he wore in Black Panther as he holds what appears to be a severed Ultron head. Check it out below:

It seems likely that this particular Funko Pop has something to do with the episode where T’Challa becomes Star-Lord. If “King Killmonger” exists in the same universe as the one where T’Challa is taken to outer space by the Ravagers, maybe King T’Chaka didn’t leave Erik in Oakland like he did in the MCU we know. Therefore, Killmonger would grow up to be the rightful and only heir to the throne. Having not been subjected to his western life, it remains to be seen if this version of Killmonger is as unrighteous as his big-screen counterpart.

Rumor has it that a What...If? will explore a post-apocalyptic world where the Avengers fail in Avengers: Age of Ultron. If Killmonger revealed Wakanda’s true nature to the rest of the world, maybe he and the remaining Avengers team up against Ultron and his army. Or, maybe Ultron simply needed some of Wakanda’s vibranium, leading him to a confrontation with King Killmonger. Regardless, this new Funko Pop only exacerbates anticipation for a series that should take full advantage of Marvel’s pending Multiverse of Madness.
