UPDATE: THR has updated the original source article to correct WandaVision's release has not been delayed and is still slated for 2020.

Marvel's upcoming Disney+ show WandaVision has reportedly been delayed until 2021. Marvel Studios announced a full slate of original shows in-development for Disney's streaming service last year, and this included confirming WandaVision. The show will star Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision, respectively, with the story picking up after Avengers: Endgame - despite Vision being dead.

When Marvel announced WandaVision, it was revealed that the series would begin streaming in the spring of 2021. The show is heavily tied to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where Scarlet Witch will appear. But, these two properties have been separated substantially since then. WandaVision was moved up to a December 2020 release, while Doctor Strange 2 was delayed almost a full year due to coronavirus. The pandemic has changed the entirety of Marvel's Phase 4 plans, and now it appears WandaVision has been affected too.

In an article from THR, the outlet mentioned the recent delays to Marvel's Disney+ plans, which include the official delay of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Right after mentioning the show's postponement, the article says that WandaVision is scheduled for a release in spring 2021 "if things go as planned." This would indicate that WandaVision has been delayed too, but Marvel has not confirmed it.

WandaVision

Since this news is not confirmed by Marvel, this information may be incorrect. WandaVision was initially announced to come out in the spring of 2021, and this article might have accidentally referenced the original date instead. But, even if this was an error, it is still quite likely that WandaVision could be delayed. It was previously revealed that some additional filming was scheduled to take place in mid-July, but it is unknown if that happened. Meanwhile, with the delay of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier likely pushing the release until late 2020, Marvel would avoid having the two shows overlap.

Until it is confirmed or clarified that WandaVision has been delayed, the show's release will remain up in the air. Disney+ lists the show as arriving in 2020, and the studios could wait until Disney's earnings call in August to clear up any confusion. At this point, it does seem more likely than not that WandaVision will miss its earlier December release, but this delay would just mean that the show is going to come out in the same time frame as originally announced. Either way, WandaVision is still expected to come out almost a year before Scarlet Witch's story continues in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
