The Marvel vs. Capcom video game series has led to some epic battles between heroes and villains from the two popular universes, but new fan art shows one of the biggest missed opportunities of the franchise: Wolverine and Blanka together. In new art from Tom Reilly, Wolverine and Blanka battle together, as the image proves the adamantium-clawed Marvel hero and the electric Street Fighter bruiser's personas would make quite a team.Marvel vs. Capcom is a popular fighting game that originally began as an arcade game in 1996. The series has evolved from featuring characters from just the X-Men and Street Fighter universes, with its most recent installment, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite featuring over 35 playable characters. The crossover fighting game has starred the most notable faces from the Marvel Comics and Capcom universes, including Captain America, Iron Man, Thanos, Thor, Chun-Li, Morrigan, and Ryu. However, one character who has never appeared in the Marvel vs. Capcom games is Blanka - and in new art, he gets the chance to join the roster.Related: Marvel Is Telling The Biggest Avengers Story Ever - So Why Isn't It Working? On his Twitter account, artist Tom Reilly (The Thing) shared a new illustration for his Marvel vs. Capcom fan art series. In the piece, Wolverine and Blanka join forces as the two characters, known for going feral and unleashing their incredible powers and strength, strike an awesome pose together. The art highlights the franchise's biggest missed opportunity, as Blanka not appearing in the fight game remains one of its most questionable decisions. It would be a lot of fun to see Wolverine or the Hulk team up with Blanka - as they'd make a deadly duo.

Blanka's Absence In Marvel vs. Capcom Needs To Be Fixed

Considering Blanka is one of the most recognizable characters in the Street Fighter universe, it remains perplexing that he's never appeared in the Marvel vs. Capcom video game series. However, it's not like Capcom hasn't used the character in crossovers before, as this year, Blanka became a playable skin in Fortnite in celebration of Street Fighter's 35th anniversary.

When the next installment of the Marvel vs. Capcom launches, the franchise needs to consider adding more characters like Blanka, who should be in the game but hasn't made the crossover yet more than 25 years after the series debuted. As Tom Reilly's art shows, Wolverine and Blanka would make a deadly team who would instill fear into most opponents they face. So hopefully, the pair will get a chance to shine together whenever the next Marvel vs. Capcom game releases, and the franchise can correct its biggest missed opportunity.
