A new trailer for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order has been released, featuring the Sentinels, Deadpool, and more. The third game in the Ultimate Alliance series is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and just two months away. Recently, Hawkeye and Khamala Khan were confirmed to be in the title's large roster.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was originally revealed back in December during The Game Awards. It was an unexpected announcement since the previous game in the series released 10 years ago. However, the Marvel brand has greatly increased in popularity since then and the new game is clearly taking many cues from the MCU. Thanos and his Black Order are the antagonists, and the Infinity Stones are the central plot point. The Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel have also been featured extensively in marketing. It appears Marvel is combining nostalgia for the Ultimate Alliance brand with the popularity of the MCU movies.
Nintendo has released a new trailer for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. This one primarily focuses on the X-Men characters. In fact, if one hasn't seen previous footage, this would appear as an X-Men game with guest stars.
In the video, Magneto is shown with an Infinity Stone and attacks X-Mansion. Mystique and Juggernaut also appear. The footage shows what looks like a unique boss encounter with Juggernaut, where it appears the characters are trying to evade his unstoppable ramming attack. The Sentinels are also featured. On the hero side, the trailer confirms Nightcrawler and Psylocke. Although the majority of the trailer is focused on Magneto fighting the X-Men, it ends with them forming an alliance against the Black Order. Of course, Deadpool can't help but take a selfie in the middle of the chaos.
Fans will be happy to see the X-Men getting exposure in video games lately. In addition to appearing in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, X-Men characters were also recently added to Marvel Strike Force. For some fans, it may seem like a given that the X-Men would be featured in Marvel video games today. But, it was not like that in recent history. Infamously, the X-Men were absent from Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, despite the major characters appearing in the previous titles. Although never confirmed, many speculated the reason why the X-Men were absent was due to Fox owning the film rights. It is certainly an interesting coincidence that the characters are being featured heavily now, just as Marvel reclaimed the film rights.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will be released on July 19 for Nintendo Switch.
