In addition to a slew of new movies, the MCU's future after Thor: Love and Thunder boasts a long list of new Disney+ shows. Marvel has put together a packed slate of movies and shows for MCU Phase 4 and beyond. Thor's latest adventure, which pits him against Gorr the God Butcher, is the seventh MCU movie that Marvel has made since Phase 3 ended. And as their current schedule proves, Marvel Studios is far from done producing new MCU installments for Phase 4.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Phase 4 got off to an unfortunately slow start. In fact, 2020 was absent of any new MCU content. The next two years, however, have been a completely different story. 2021 alone saw the release of five MCU shows, which was obviously a promising beginning to Marvel's Disney+ plans.
Over the next few years, audiences will be treated to well over a dozen MCU shows. Similar to what's already been offered, some will shine the spotlight on existing MCU heroes, whereas others will adapt the stories of Marvel Comics characters who haven't been used yet. Here's all 17 MCU TV shows releasing on Disney+ after Thor: Love and Thunder.
I am Groot - August 10
Marvel will take a different direction from its usual Disney+ material with I am Groot, an animated series of shorts aimed at children. Consisting of five episodes, I am Groot will go back a few years before Avengers: Infinity War to a time where the character was still Baby Groot. Once again, Vin Diesel will provide the voice of the fan-favorite Guardians of the Galaxy character.
She-Hulk - August 17, 2022
The next live-action show to arrive after Ms. Marvel ends is She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, which is schedule to premiere on August 17. In the format of a half-hour legal comedy, the new show is set to tell the MCU origin story of Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who becomes the Sensational She-Hulk in Marvel Comics. Helping her on her journey is Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, who was last seen in the post-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Her biggest enemy from the comics, Titania, will be brought to life by Jameela Jamil. Plus, the show will feature the return of Tim Roth's Abomination, who was captured by Wong in Shang-Chi.
Werewolf by Night - 2022
Marvel's werewolf hero is on his way to Disney+ in the form of a Halloween special. The untitled special stars Gael Garcia Bernal, who could be playing Jack Russell, the original version of Werewolf by Night and a drifter whose family bloodline carries the werewolf curse in Marvel Comics. Since filming is current underway, it's at least possible that Marvel intends to release Werewolf by Night in time for Halloween in late October.
Marvel's What If...? Season 2 - 2022
Marvel's What If...? is due for another season in 2022. After telling a number of "what if" scenarios about several major MCU events, the show will be back for another batch of nine episodes, with at least some of them tying in to Phase 4's releases. Marvel hasn't released a trailer yet, nor has it confirmed any story details. However, it has been confirmed that Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter will return in some capacity.
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special - Late 2022
Before returning to the big screen for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3., Star-Lord's team will follow up their roles in Thor: Love and Thunder by headlining James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. In what will most likely be Marvel's final release of 2022, the holiday special includes someone Gunn has called "one of the greatest MCU characters of all time". According to the director, only some of the Guardians will be on hand for this particular outing, though exactly which ones remains unclear for the time being.
Secret Invasion - Early 2023
Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury will get his chance to be the hero of the story when Marvel launches Secret Invasion, which is expected to premiere sometime in early 2023. Set before the Avengers reversed Thanos' snap, the six-episode series is expected to adapt the comic book event of the same name, which centered on an attempt by the Skrulls to infiltrate the superhero community and various government organizations. The live-action version of the story will feature appearances from several returning MCU characters, including Everett Ross, War Machine, Talos, and Maria Hill.
Echo - 2023
Hawkeye's Maya Lopez will get her own spinoff in 2023. Presumably, the series will explore what came next for Alaqua Cox's character after her standoff with Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) in the Hawkeye finale. Reportedly, Charlie Cox's Daredevil - who officially returned to the MCU in Spider-May: No Way Home - and Kingpin will play roles in Echo's solo series.
Loki Season 2 - 2023
As implied by Loki season 1's cliffhanger ending, the God of Mischief's MCU story isn't over. Loki season 2, which is currently in development, is sure to address the fate of the TVA, which was radically changed by Sylvie's decision to kill He Who Remains, thus causing a new Kang the Conqueror variant to use time travel to take over the organization. Since Kang is set to menace the MCU in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the potential exists for the two stories to overlap in some interesting ways. A release date hasn't been announced, but the show arriving before 2024 would make sense.
Ironheart
Ironheart, which is in the process of putting together its cast, is one of two shows primed to explore Iron Man's legacy in Phase 4. In Marvel Comics, Ironheart is a teenage superhero who designs an Iron Man-esque suit of armor. Her MCU show will be a Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spinoff, as the show's titular character will get her start there first. After taking part in Wakanda's conflict with Namor the Sub-Mariner, Dominque Thorne's Riri Williams will lead Ironheart, a show which will also star Anthony Ramos, Manny Montana, and Lyric Ross.
Armor Wars
In the pages of Iron Man in the 1980s, Marvel told a story called "Armor Wars", which saw Tony Stark go on a relentless crusade to recover his stolen technology. In the aftermath of Iron Man's death, the MCU is doing its own interpretation of Armor Wars, but with Don Cheadle's War Machine leading the charge instead. With filming expected to begin very soon, Armor Wars could release on Disney+ in late 2023.
Daredevil
It appears that Cox's No Way Home cameo and rumored Echo role aren't the extent of what Marvel has in store for The Man Without Fear. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are developing a new Daredevil show, which could either be a continuation of his Netflix series or a full reboot. Either way, the show serves as an opportunity for Marvel to offer their own take on the masked vigilante's efforts to keep Hell's Kitchen safe from powerful crime lords like Kingpin.
Agatha: House of Harkness
After being forced into the permanent role of the "nosy neighbor" by Scarlet Witch's Chaos Magic, Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness will return to the MCU in Agatha: House of Harkness, which should explain what the witch has been up to since going under Wanda's spell. As a show about a sorceress, Agatha in a position to expand the supernatural and mystical side of the MCU with Marvel Comics characters and concepts that the Doctor Strange movies have avoided. Marvel is reportedly eyeing a 2023-2024 release window for Agatha's show.
Nova
The Human Rocket is joining the list of Marvel heroes to get the live-action treatment in Phase 4. Marvel hasn't confirmed whether or not Nova is a movie or show, but rumors point to it being a Disney+ show. Either way, Richard Rider's Nova is a massive addition to the MCU and a hero who could be the driving force of several cosmic crossovers and team-ups in Phase 5.
Wonder Man
Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is working on Wonder Man, a Disney+ show that will bring Marvel's Hollywood superhero into the MCU. Powered by ionic energy, Wonder Man is one of the strongest characters on Earth. In the comic books, Simon Williams a.k.a. Wonder Man went from a ruined business executive to a superhero with a busy life as both an Avenger and a Hollywood actor.
Okoye Spinoff
After Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ryan Coogler will shift his attention to an untitled Wakanda spinoff. Leading the Disney+ series is Danai Gurira, who will reprise her role as Okoye. The show is expected to take place in Wakanda and shed light on the origin story of the Dora Milaje leader.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year
The MCU notably skipped Spider-Man's origin when it added Tom Holland's Peter Parker to the MCU. It'll make up for that with Spider-Man: Freshman Year, an animated show set during Peter's first year as the wall-crawling superhero. So far, there's no word on when Marvel plans to release the series.
Marvel Zombies
One of the alternate realities showcased in Marvel's What If...? will get an animated spinoff. Sharing the same name as the comic series that inspired the What If..? story, Marvel Zombies is on track to provide a much deeper dive into the timeline where the Earth was plunged into chaos by zombie-infected superheroes.
