Throughout the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, only three heroes currently have their own trilogy. Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor (though the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and Spider-Man are on their way). In the eyes of many, Thor has the weakest set of movies of that bunch.
2017's Thor: Ragnarok is widely considered one of the best entries in the entire MCU but the prior two films in the series are usually ranked near the bottom of the list. That means it's relatively easy to forget many of the actors who appeared who aren't part of the main few characters.
Maximiliano Hernández
Loyal fans of the MCU will certainly recognize Maximiliano Hernández whenever they see him. That's because he played Jasper Sitwell in four movies and also appeared as part of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television series. He's most remembered in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
So, it lines up that a lot of viewers don't recall that his first time playing the role was actually in 2011's Thor. It was a small part, showing up when Thor is at S.H.I.E.L.D. and Phil Coulson and Hawkeye are around, helping him get overlooked. The actor was also in The Americans.
Sam Neill
There are plenty of hilarious scenes sprinkled in throughout Thor: Ragnarok. One that came at a truly unexpected moment was when Loki (disguised as Odin) had a play put on depicting his "death" in the previous film. Audiences cracked up when they saw Matt Damon making a cameo as fake Loki.
There was also Luke Hemsworth as fake Thor. Since they stole the show, Sam Neill showing up as the actor playing Odin gets forgotten. Neill is most known for Jurassic Park but he also worked with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi on Hunt For The Wilderpeople.
Tadanobu Asano
He may not be a household name like Sam Neill but Tadanobu Asano should be more remembered by the fans of these movies. Asano actually appears in all three installments so far, playing Hogun, a member of The Warriors Three, Thor's close Asgardian warrior friends.
Unfortunately, The Warriors Three didn't get much character development or screen time during the series, so they became forgettable. The most notable moment for Hogun came in Thor: Ragnarok when he stood up to Hela. The actor has also appeared in Midway and Battleship.
Talulah Riley
When Talulah Riley first showed up in Thor: The Dark World, not many people knew who she was. Other than a role in Pride & Prejudice, she had mostly only worked in some indie flicks and had a tiny part in Inception. Now, she's well known from Westworld.
It also didn't help that Riley had a relatively small role as an Asgardian nurse. She shows up around the time that Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) arrives in Thor's world and she doesn't do all that much. It's worth watching back and trying to spot her, though.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Even if you don't immediately recognize his name, you've most likely seen Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje all over the place. He is most known for his role as Mr. Eko in Lost but he's also worked as Killer Croc in Suicide Squad and Malko in Game of Thrones.
As for the MCU, Akinnuoye-Agbaje only made one appearance. He had a role in Thor: The Dark World as Kurse, aka Algrim the Strong. He acts as a first lieutenant of sorts to Malekith, the Dark Elf who is the film's main antagonist. Alas, like Malekith, there's not much to remember.
Ray Stevenson
Along the same lines of Tadanobu Asano, Ray Stevenson played one member of The Warriors Three. In fact, he actually portrayed the role in all three installments as well. Again though, the characters are so underdeveloped that it's difficult to fully recall them.
Stevenson took on the role of Volstagg, who simply shares his scenes with the rest of his group and doesn't get to do anything on his own. However, Stevenson is one of the most notable actors of the series, having starred as another Marvel hero in Punisher: War Zone and in the criminally underrated seventh season of Dexter.
Rachel House
This New Zealand born actress is often synonymous with director Taika Waititi. She has appeared in several of his works, so it makes sense that she would also have a small part when he took over the reins of Thor: Ragnarok. House played Topaz, the bodyguard of The Grandmaster.
House is one of the scene stealers when she gets to play off of Jeff Goldblum and delivers deadpan funny lines almost every opportunity. There just aren't enough scenes for her to fully be remembered. Regardless, she's worth watching or seeing in anything on her filmography.
Chris O'Dowd
As great as he was on The IT Crowd for years, it seems like a lot of the world wasn't introduced to Chris O'Dowd until 2011 when he was one of the highlights in Bridesmaids. Since then, he has kind of been everywhere, including This is 40 and HBO's Girls.
Viewers might forget that he was in the early scenes of Thor: The Dark World. When Jane Foster is trying to get over Thor's absence, she goes on a date with a guy named Richard, played by O'Dowd. He also shows up later in the film to help Jane and Thor gets a bit jealous.
Zachary Levi
After starring as Chuck Bartowski on Chuck for years, Zachary Levi went a while before he really landed another big role. That came when he scored the lead superhero part in 2019's Shazam! However, before his days as a hero on the DC side of things, he was with Marvel.
He was cast to play Fandral of The Warriors Three in 2011's Thor. However, had to back out due to scheduling conflicts and someone else was cast. In an interesting twist, he then went on to replace his replacement and played Fandral in both Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, though the appearances were small
Josh Dallas
When Levi couldn't play Fandral, the role was originally given to Stuart Townsend. Then, Townsend ended up not taking it either, leaving the door open for Josh Dallas to take over. Dallas wasn't quite yet known to the world, as he broke out later in 2011 as Prince Charming on Once Upon a Time.
Dallas is certainly forgotten in this series but it's not because of his performance. It's just that, again, The Warriors Three don't do much and he only played the character once, which was nearly a decade ago. These days, Dallas is the lead on NBC's Manifest.
