One Avengers: Infinity War fan imagines what the Mad Titan Thanos would look like if he were crossed with Nintendo's Kirby - and it's disturbing. Marvel Studios kicked off the beginning of the end of their first overarching Marvel Cinematic Universe narrative with the debut of Infinity War earlier this year. The massive film saw Marvel superheroes from all over the galaxy team up to take on Thanos and prevent him from using his Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half the universe. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful, and Thanos will return in Avengers 4 as the main antagonist while the remaining heroes attempt to avenge their fallen friends.

Much of Infinity War focused on developing Thanos as a three-dimensional character as a means of making him a more formidable villain. Notoriously, Marvel Studios has a villain problem, but screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, along with directors Anthony and Joe Russo, avoided that issue by giving Thanos a great deal of screen time. As a result, fans undoubtedly responded to Thanos' arc in Infinity War, though in a variety of ways. Now, new fan art of the Avengers villain imagines an extremely silly version of the character.

Reddit user CrazyLipz posted a mashup of Thanos and Nintendo character Kirby yesterday, though the image has been making the rounds online since early June. The image features Thanos' purple face - with his interesting chin - on the round body of Kirby, and a completed Infinity Gauntlet on his left hand. Take a look:

Thirby from gaming

Undoubtedly, this bit of fan art is one of the more ridiculous pieces to surface in the wake of Infinity War's massive success. Ever since Avengers: Infinity War broke numerous box office records, it's been clear that Marvel Studios' latest has secured its place in movie history. And, one way it lives on is in fan art - even silly memes like this one that combines Thanos and Kirby to create Thirby (or Kirbos, as this creature has also been called).

A great deal of the Avengers fan art has been a little more serious, either depicting the fallen heroes in Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet or showing Captain Marvel's response to the Infinity War post-credits scene. Still, there's also been plenty of more light-hearted art going around the internet. In fact, with many viewers becoming enamored with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War - and praising the hotness of the Mad Titan as portrayed by Josh Brolin - fans have shared art of the "sexy" villain. As an example, one fan posted a rendering of Thanos as People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive.

Of course, many would agree that Thanos as Kirby is quite the opposite of sexy. The comments under this Reddit post accuse CrazyLipz of sharing a cursed image, cementing the fan art as a disturbing image. Truly, it's something that can't be unseen - no matter how much a viewer might wish it could be. Still, there may be others who wish Thirby were an option in Nintendo's upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game since the powers Kirby could absorb from Thanos would no doubt be formidable. But, since Thanos won't be appearing in the game, it won't be possible. For now, all we have is this cursed Avengers: Infinity War art.
