Warning! Spoilers for Heroes Reborn: Magneto & The Mutant Force #1 below.

Marvel's Superman, Hyperion, and the Squadron Supreme of America just faced their own Avengers Infinity War-esque snap after trying to kill the last surviving mutants in the Heroes Reborn universe. In Heroes Reborn: Magneto & The Mutant Force, Hyperion and Power Princess launch an attack on the mutant's home turf, only to be disintegrated by a powerful villain who was just reawakened. While the team wasn't killed, their disappearance is reminiscent of Thanos snapping half of reality from existence.

Marvel's Heroes Reborn has twisted the familiar universe into something new entirely. In a world without the Avengers, Hyperion and the Squadron Supreme - who are pastiches of DC's Justice League - are the most powerful heroes. However, the superteam isn't all good, as they have killed those who have threatened their power in the world. One of the deadliest incidents was the mutant massacre, where Hyperion and Power Princess led an attack that nearly wiped out the mutants and killed Charles Xavier.

In Heroes Reborn: Magneto & The Mutant Force #1 by Steve Orlando, Bernard Chang, David Curiel, and VC's Clayton Cowles, Magneto leads the mutant force, who tries to save the remaining mutants scattered across the globe and bring them to the sanctuary on Island M. After hearing Charles Xavier in his head, Emma Frost and a group of mutants navigate through Magneto's mind. As their journey unfolds, the Squadron Supreme of America attacks Island M. After locating Charles, Magneto starts to put him back together - but the person he saves turned out to be someone else entirely. With the mutants on the ropes, the Squadron Supreme starts to fade away as their cells change. They slowly dissolve mid-battle.

While the Squadron Supreme suffered their own snap, it's quickly revealed they weren't killed but were teleported to outer planets in space where it will take weeks to return. Cassandra Nova reveals herself and takes credit for the snap-like disappearance, saying they will have to plan their next attack before they return.

The mutants have suffered tremendous tragedy at the hands of the Squadron Supreme of America, so they're probably a tad disappointed Nova didn't go full-Thanos and snap them out of existence. Still, seeing the heroes dissolve just like some of Marvel's heroes did in Infinity War is quite the gruesome scene. Marvel's Superman, Hyperion, and Power Princess can't believe what's happened as they dissolve into nothing. The one-shot shows defeating the Squadron Supreme, even temporarily, requires incredible powers and abilities. Nova is a loose cannon, but ultimately, she saved the mutants from a permanent massacre.
