Warning! Spoilers for W.E.B. of Spider-Man #1 by Marvel Comics below.

Marvel Comics just showed the perfect way to introduce Doreen Green AKA Squirrel Girl to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a new comic that explores Peter Parker working alongside some of the most gifted teens and youngsters in the Marvel Universe, he's introduced to Squirrel Girl. The interaction shows the ideal way the popular character can be introduced into Marvel's live-action world.

Squirrel Girl is one of Marvel's oddest and most fun creations. Created by Steve Ditko and Will Murray and first debuting in Marvel Super-Heroes #8, Squirrel Girl has become a wildly popular character in the comics, especially with the publisher's younger readers. Besides the usual superhuman abilities heroes have, Green has a squirrel-like tail and can communicate with the little creatures. While that might sound unimpressive on the surface, Squirrel Girl is one of the only heroes to go head-to-head with Thanos, Galactus, and MODOK and come out victorious. The character was originally going to debut in Freeform's New Warriors played by Milana Vayntrub, but the pilot never aired.

Last week, Squirrel Girl made a surprise appearance in the W.E.B. of Spider-Man #1 by Kevin Shinick, Alberto Alburquerque, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Travis Lanham. The comic is loosely based on the MCU, as it features Peter Parker's connection with Tony Stark and introduced Harley Keener to the comics for the first time. In the story, a group of Marvel's smartest youngsters is gathered in a W.E.B. facility where they can learn, build, and work together in creating new tech and making scientific discoveries. Peter Parker actually meets Squirrel Girl in the series' first issue.

Squirrel Girl #1 Marvel Comics

Peter is impressed with Squirrel Girl. He asks her if her squirrel friend is a spider-bot, to which Green introduces him to Tippy-Toe. Awkwardly, Squirrel Girl tells Peter she also has a tail like Tippy-Toe that's bunched up in her pants and that she caught him staring at it. Ultimately, Squirrel Girl adds a much-needed and unpredictable fire-cracker energy to the W.E.B. team.

The issue shows a great way to introduce Squirrel Girl to the MCU. Making her a fellow member at W.E.B. as part of Stark's new project alongside Peter Parker seamlessly introduces her to new audiences. She's there because she's earned a spot due to her heroism and smarts. Pairing her with Spider-Man would be loads of fun as the two have great energy together. Plus, allowing her to grow on part of the W.E.B. team would also build Squirrel Girl up before her own solo appearances. W.E.B. of Spider-Man #1 might not exist in Marvel's main continuity, but it still shows the perfect way to introduce Squirrel Girl to the MCU. It's time Doreen Green ate nuts and kicked butts in the MCU.
