Warning! SPOILERS for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 9In the finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Marvel President and head honcho Kevin Feige gets slammed in the best way. Not happy with the way her show is quickly heading toward a typical CGI brawl, the fourth-wall-breaking Jennifer Walters puts the pause on She-Hulk and exits her own series, heading straight for the offices of Marvel Studios to speak with Kevin Feige himself to make some much-needed changes. As such, the parody and jokes about Feige are hilariously perfect, while also serving as some remarkable self-reflection for the MCU.

In She-Hulk episode 9, Jen enters a large inner sanctum filled with screens within the heart of Marvel Studios. However, she discovers that Kevin Feige is actually a robot named K.E.V.I.N (Knowledge Enhanced Visual Interconnectivity Nexus), an AI using a highly advanced entertainment algorithm that provides "near-perfect products." As such, the hilarious joke "explains" the MCU's cookie-cutter tendencies for formulaic storytelling. However, the very fact that the She-Hulk finale is joking about it and making fun of the man in charge proves Marvel is looking to branch out and evolve the franchise in some new and refreshing ways.

Why She-Hulk's Finale Mocked Kevin Feige So Much (& Why It Worked)

Kevin Feige's Robot in She-Hulk Finale

Complete with a visor component resembling the real Kevin Feige's trademark black baseball hats, K.E.V.I.N makes all the final decisions and choices for the trajectory of the MCU. However, even before the robot reveal, She-Hulk finds it strange just how much the show's writing team is willing to protect K.E.V.I.N, seeing it as almost creepy. It reflects the unique position Feige has in the real world with a rare fan following few other executives have, being the man who keeps everything connected in the MCU and reveals all the new projects with yearly panels. However, this parody recognizes that not every decision is perfect.

That being said, it's satisfying to see K.E.V.I.N willing to listen to Jen's concerns, eventually agreeing to let She-Hulk makes changes to the finale rather than falling into the typical Marvel show stereotypes. While he doesn't answer some of her other questions like why there are so many daddy issues or when the X-Men are going to debut in the MCU, the Feige parody works incredibly well, proving that the Marvel head has been listening and is well aware of the criticisms that have arisen during Phase 4 and throughout the initial Disney+ era of Marvel shows.

She-Hulk's Kevin Feige Joke Nailed A Lot Of MCU Problems

She-Hulk Speaking with K.E.V.I.N

Going beyond the ever-present daddy issues and predictable CGI brawls serving as final acts for MCU movies and shows, She-Hulk's K.E.V.I.N does make some comments about She-Hulk's expensive CGI appearances and how the VFX team has already moved on to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, inadvertently referencing the recent controversies revolving around the break-neck speed of the Marvel machine. Likewise, the value of personal stakes is given a spotlight, something future Marvel projects could certainly take advantage of to a greater degree. K.E.V.I.N also lets She-Hulk bring back Daredevil for the finale, conceding that Marvel has historically been light in the department of letting women have positive romantic relationships.

All in all, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law gave Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios the perfect opportunity to be self-deprecating as a unique means of talking to its audience. Through the finale, they're sending the message that they're aware of the past criticisms and are seemingly looking to evolve the franchise into new spaces beyond the predictable and what's become very expected. With K.E.V.I.N having said that She-Hulk won't be able to visit him again, it was certainly a fun parody of Mr. Feige while it lasted.
