Sorcerers in the Marvel Universe are among the most powerful heroes and villains due to their access to magic, spells, relics, and more. But now, Lyra Bloodstone has revealed a new secret domain that renders magic useless. In Death of Doctor Strange: Elsa Bloodstone #1, Bloodstone opens up the Domain Defilia, where no magic can be used. The domain is the newest way to defeat sorcerers and wizards.
In this week's Death of Doctor Strange: Elsa Bloodstone #1, Marvel Comics introduced readers to Lyra Bloodstone, the secret sister of monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone. Lyra is the firstborn of the Bloodstone line, but her father, Ulysses, sacrificed her more than ten thousand years ago to take down the mystical beast, Krakkan. As a result, Bloodstone was missing for thousands of years, trapped inside the Cosmos, away from her true family. But when Kaecilius killed Doctor Strange, the magical barrier and protections surrounding Earth disappeared - allowing her to return to her home with a dramatic entrance.
In Death of Doctor Strange: Bloodstone #1 by Tini Howard, IG Guara, Dijjo Lima, and VC's Joe Caramagna, Lyra Bloodstone crashes through the ceiling of Bloodstone Manor. Both Elsa and Cullen Bloodstone realize their new, unexpected guest is their sister, as they learn about her past and their father Ulysses' sacrifice. In addition, Lyra reveals she possesses the Nullgem, allowing her to absorb magic and stop it. When Krakkan returns to acquire the Nullgem himself, Lyra shows off her incredible magic absorption abilities; as she starts to channel the energy she's taken from relics and creates a gateway to a new secret domain: the Domain Defilia. Lyra absorbs Krakkan's magic and defeats him with Nullgem.
Lyra reveals the Domain Defilia will soon be ready and that it's a place where sorcerers can't use magic. Any sorcerer or wizard who uses their abilities and spells inside the domain will be powerless and defeated. Lyra intends on using the domain as a way where they can stop sorcerers from making monsters. She later uses her Nullgem combined with the Bloodstones to separate the monster inside Cullen. While she stops sorcerers before they create monsters, Lyra proves to be a worthy addition to the Bloodstone monster-hunting family.
Introducing a new domain where magic can't be used introduces a new, secret place where sorcerers and wizards will be rendered useless. Hopefully, readers will get to see Lyra trap a sorcerer in the Domain Defilia soon, as it's an incredibly impressive new way to defeat sorcerers in the Marvel Universe. Magic-users, watch out.
