The second season of Marvel's Runaways will be premiering on Hulu this December. Based on the comics by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, Runaways focuses on a group of teenagers who flee from their homes after discovering their parents are part of a supervillain organization.

It was announced in mid-2016 that a Runaways TV show was being developed by Hulu. While the show opened with moderate reviews, Hulu's first Marvel show wasn't as popular as ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.Dor Netflix's many superhero shows. Hulu also gave Runaways a weird release schedule that could possibly be one of the contributing factors to the show not taking off as well as expected. That being said, Runaways has grown a big enough fanbase like most superheroes to warrant a second season. Runaways co-creator Vaughan has even praised the show, calling it "fantastic." It was announced that season 2 would be getting a winter premiere but now, we know exactly what date the second season will be released.

As reported by Deadline, Marvel's Runaways season 2 will premiere on Hulu on December 21st. The show is said to be picking up directly where the last season left off with the Runaways literally running away as they have been framed for the murder of their friend Destiny. Given the December release date, season 2 will be released a little more than a year after the first season premiered. Marvel has also released a new image from season 2 and a teaser, both of which can be seen below.

It was revealed in June that season 2 had begun filming, which leaves about six months to film everything and edit the finished product for a December release. That being said, it could be possible that Runaways had begun filming in April like previously thought. Either way, at least the first episode of season 2 will be released on December 21st (though Hulu released the first three episodes of season 1 on the same day, then one episode at a time each following week).

Season 2 was ordered by Hulu just a few days before the final episode from season 1 was released. With the comics book's rich history, the show could potentially unfold in several different ways. Gert actress Ariela Barer has revealed that she would like to adopt the storyline where her character dies and then comes back to life. Showrunner Joe Pokaski has also stated that he would like to see a team-up episode between Cloak & Dagger and Runaways. No matter what Runaways decides to do with season 2, there will likely be people waiting to see what the teenagers will get themselves into this next season.
