Marvel's Runaways And Cloak & Dagger TV Shows Are Crossing Over

Marvel's Runaways and Cloak & Dagger TV shows are confirmed for a crossover episode during Runaways season 3 when it premieres on Hulu. Marvel TV has established two teen-geared series set within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, one following a group of runaway teenagers - some with superpowers, others with an extremely smart and loyal dinosaur - as well as the New Orleans-set show about a pair of teens with special abilities. Fans have long speculated about whether Runaways and Cloak & Dagger would ever crossover, but now they don't need to wonder any longer.

Runaways follows the tight-knit group of Alex Wilder (Rhenzy Feliz),  Nico Minoru (Lyrica Okano), Chase Stein (Gregg Sulkin), Karolina Dean (Virginia Gardner), Gert Yorkes (Ariela Barer) and Molly Hernandez (Allegra Acosta) who flee their homes when they learn their parents are part of a nefarious group called Pride. Meanwhile, Cloak & Dagger tells the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), who develop superpowers after a shared childhood tragedy. Now, Marvel TV has confirmed that the two teen shows will crossover in an upcoming episode.

Marvel brought the casts of Runaways and Cloak & Dagger together for a video announcement of the crossover episode, which will occur in the upcoming Runaways season 3 that premieres Dec. 13 on Hulu. Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb said about the crossover, “It’s so fun being able to do something that revels in the Mighty Marvel Manner! Having these young heroes crossover allows fans of both shows to see the adventure everyone has been waiting for and we’ve only hinted at." See the video annoucement below.

The Cloak & Dagger season 2 finale aired earlier this year on Freeform and loosely set up this crossover, as Tandy and Tyrone were seen on a bus heading out of New Orleans with the mission of helping out other parts of the country. It seems their new mission will bring them across the paths of the Runaways, who were split at the end of their own second season. With Gert abducted by her father and Chase and Karolina both prisoners, the rest of the kids will need to rescue their friends. Plus, Marvel Comics villain Morgan le Fay (Elizabeth Hurley) is set to be introduced in season 3, potentially providing the kind of threat that Cloak and Dagger would be perfect help in defeating.

How exactly Tandy and Tyrone cross paths with the Runaways remains to be seen, and fans will just have to watch season 3 to find out. Potentially, the two other teen superheroes could appear in a future trailer for Runaways season 3, but it's more likely Marvel will hold back their appearances until the season is released. After all, this Runaways and Cloak & Dagger crossover is something fans have been wanting since both shows were announced, and Marvel wouldn't want to ruin any of the surprises they have in store.

So fans will just have to tune in to Runaways season 3 to see the crossover episode with Cloak & Dagger. Hopefully it paves the way for many more crossovers to come. That is, of course, if both Runaways and Cloak & Dagger continue.
