As the MCU opens its multiverse, fans are eager to figure out how their favorite non-MCU Marvel characters might be brought in. While there are relatively straightforward connections between the MCU and Agents of SHIELDAgent Carter, and now Daredevil, shows like Marvel's Runaways are going to be more difficult to tie in.

The good thing about Runaways is that the characters all have different reasons for their superpowers, which makes it so that some are extremely easily adapted into the canon. These are the characters who are most likely to make their way into the MCU, and how they could be integrated.

Gertrude Yorkes

Gertrude Yorkes in Runaways

Gert is probably the most difficult character to introduce to the MCU since her origins and her powers are so distinct from the "aliens, androids, and wizards" that currently populate the superpowered side of the MCU. In the comics, Gert is the child of time travelers, which could provide an opening through the TVA, but those origins were ignored in the Hulu series.

Gert doesn't have any powers in her own right, other than her connection to Old Lace, and there is currently no place in the MCU where a dinosaur would make much sense. That being said, there's no reason it necessarily has to make sense. Some of the zanier projects, like the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor movies, could feature a purple-haired girl with a dinosaur without really needing to explain it.

Alex Wilder

Alex Wilder in Runaways

Alex has a history in the comics and in the Hulu series of betraying his fellow Runaways, so anywhere he could be introduced, it would come with some suspicion from fans familiar with his history. In the comics, after his time with the Runaways, Alex spent a lot of time trying to establish his family's crime empire in New York.

Because of the shared location, he could pop up in future projects either fighting the likes of Kate Bishop and Spiderman or attempting to wrestle control of the criminal underground from more powerful characters like Kingpin. In addition, the comic version of Alex does interact with members of the Defenders, so if those series are on the way to becoming canon, he could certainly tag along for the ride.

Molly Hayes

Molly Hernandez Runaways

Molly is somewhat difficult to introduce into the MCU since so much of her backstory is tied to mutants, who are still not officially a part of Earth 616. However, the introduction of Charles Xavier on Earth 838 means that Molly could come in from another universe.

While America Chavez travels the multiverse looking for her mothers, she could run into Molly either as a part of the Runaways or the X-Men. Both being young superheroes, they could easily end up teaming up, especially if the universe she's found in is one where Gert has already died.

Karolina Dean

Karolina uses her powers in Runaways

There are certainly ways that Karolina could be brought into the MCU, but most of them would feel relatively forced at this stage. Karolina is one of the best members of the Runaways and her quirky abilities and personality would fit in well with the general tone of GotG movies, but she spends most of her time dealing with alien invasions of Earth, rather than navigating the cosmos themselves.

One possibility that would make more sense would be for her to take part in the Secret Invasion arc, both as an alien and as Xavin's fiance. But it would still take a good bit of growth in the MCU before that could be done in a way that felt natural.

Chase Stein

While another article on the Runaways theorized that Alex Wilder might bump into Riri Williams at M.I.T., there's a good chance that a similar plot could work with Chase, as he is portrayed as an engineering genius. Chase stole the Fistagons from his parents in the comics, but the television show gave him more credit, having him conceptualize and engineer the weaponry himself.

Keeping that in mind, it would make a lot of sense for Chase to go to M.I.T., especially since Gert considered going to college in Massachusetts. At M.I.T., Chase would have the chance to compare his engineering skills against some of the brightest minds in the country, which could be a great source of character development. Seeing Chase and Riri be young rivals would be a fun development, and could help Riri become comfortable with the idea of super-heroics.

Tina Minoru

Tina Minoru technically already is in the MCU, but since her character was barely featured, it's worth mentioning her. A version of Tina Minoru, played by Linda Louise Duan, was shown in Doctor Strange as the Master of the Hong Kong Sanctum, but she didn't have any of the villainous aspects fans of Runaways would expect.

The character has had several altercations with Stephen Strange and his variants in the comics, so it wouldn't take much to push her character into a more prominent position. She may not be a threat worthy of the Sorceror Supreme, but she would be a good minor villain for the newly emerging teams to have to take on.

Morgan Le Fay

Morgan le Fay casts a magic spell in Runaways

Morgan Le Fay is one of the most powerful characters in any Marvel live-action media to use the Darkhold, and it seems possible that she could come out of the woodwork now that the Darkhold is (seemingly) gone for good. There's a good chance that Dr. Strange and Wanda will have to unite against a greater mystical threat in the future, and Morgan Le Fay would definitely fit the bill.

She is a powerful threat in the Marvel Universe, with it taking both the Avengers and the Euroforce teaming up to take her down in the comics. Her introduction would probably be a way off since the Avengers need time to regain their strength after their battles with Thanos, but she would easily fit into the cinematic universe if they needed a major mystical threat.

Jonah

While the first few phases of the MCU were very Earth-bound, it is progressively venturing into outer space, which presents more opportunities for villainous aliens to come center stage. Jonah was the primary villain of Runaways, directing the activities of PRIDE and trying to find a place of power for himself and his family.

The character could easily fit into a Guardians of the Galaxy or Captain Marvel movie. Of course, the fact that actor Julian McMahon also played Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four movies means that the actor may need to change for Jonah to come to the MCU, now that the Fantastic Four are canon, at least in Earth-838.

Nico Minoru

Nico wields the Staff of One in Runaways

There have been rumors that there is a Nico Minoru series in development, and it isn't hard to see why. Phase Four has been predominantly focused on bringing magic and the multiverse into play, as well as providing room for young superheroes to rise. Nico is the perfect blending of both of those agendas and would be a perfect fit for the MCU.

As the most powerful member of the Runaways, Nico could certainly attract the attention of Dr. Strange and/or Wong as she experiments with her powers. Whether this would be a continuation of the Hulu series or a new version of the character, there's definitely a lot of room to play around.

Xavin

Xavin in Runaways

Xavin has the most likelihood of being adapted into the MCU, because their character is canonically a Skrull who stood against their kind during Marvel's Secret Invasion. Given that Marvel is gradually introducing Skrulls to the universe in the lead-up to the film of the same name, Xavin could very easily be introduced.

Whether Xavin is the version fans know from the television series or a variant on the role, it would be great to see the genderfluid character on the big screen. They would be an easy first introduction to the Runaways or could wind up as a sometimes-member of the Young Avengers with their relative, Hulkling.
