Images for the upcoming animated movie Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors have been revealed, offering new looks at characters like Quake, Ms. Marvel, and Captain Marvel in the film. Last December, Marvel announced a new initiative aimed at a new generation of superhero fans called Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. Based on the comics and TV team lead by Daisy 'Quake' Johnson, the animated film will arrive later this year along with 6 mini webisodes.
Consisting of Quake, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, America Chavez, Squirrel Girl, a new take on Patriot, Inferno, and Gwen Stacy as Ghost-Spider, the heroes will represent a diverse group of youngsters (plus Carol Danvers) who help save the world. Likely, comics, toys, and other media and merchandise will follow, but the animated film will be one of Marvel's first in awhile. The heroes will also be joined by Squirrel Girl's main companion Tippy Toe and the Inhuman Royal Family's teleporting dog Lockjaw. There's no release date yet for the movie, but promotional material for the film has already started to make its way online.
Nerdist has the exclusive first look at the character designs for the team in Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, which provide an idea of how the characters will be translated from page to screen. Hopefully, a trailer will arrive before long, but in the meantime you should check out the gallery below for a sneak peak at the film:

The designs are quite a bit different from the ones we saw when the film was announced, but presumably the project wasn't as finalized then. Quake is being voiced by Chloe Bennet from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., while Milana Vanytrub is providing the voice of Squirrel Girl. The latter actor is actually familiar with the role to a degree, as she will be playing the live-action Doreen Green in the New Wariors TV show that's currently in development.
In addition, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Ming-Na Wen will be voicing the villainous Kree warrior Hala, though we don't yet have a look at her character. The information provided with the new images confirms each character will closely match their comic book counterpart, though America Chavez' ability to punch through dimensions is omitted. Possibly, her powers will be streamlined to strength and flight, but that has yet to be either confirmed or denied.
This isn't Marvel's only animated venture in the works. Aside from Marvel's animated series on Disney XD, there's the Deadpool animated series that FX and Donald Glover are working on. On top of all that, Marvel and Sony have the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film hitting theaters later this year. Along with their live-action movie and TV offerings, Marvel will be providing plenty of animated content for their fans throughout 2018.
Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors arrives later this year.
