Marvel's The Punisher Reimagined as a Law & Order Spinoff

A new fan-made teaser combines The Punisher with Law & Order. Over the course of nearly three years now, Netflix has introduced viewers to four NYC-based, street level heroes: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. With their powers combined, this quartet makes up The Defenders, which of course just got an 8-episode team-up miniseries released earlier this month. Soon though, Netflix will give a solo spotlight to a much less morally righteous hero than even the relentlessly snarky Jessica: The Punisher.

While an exact release date still remains elusive, The Punisher's 13-episode debut season is on its way before the end of 2017, and that's nothing but bad news for the criminal scum infesting the streets of Marvel's NYC. Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle received a memorable test-run within the small-screen MCU last year - playing a major part in Daredevil season 2 - but this will be the character's true chance to sink or swim as a viable solo property worthy of what might end up being multiple seasons of content.

Netflix has been kicking The Punisher's marketing level up a notch as of late, but now, BossLogic has taken it upon themselves to contribute a new teaser for the series that's clearly presented from a more tongue-in-cheek perspective. The clip combines Frank Castle with the iconic opening narration of NBC's long-running Law & Order franchise, altering the words spoken to more closely align with Castle's not so lawful philosophy when it comes to bringing down bad guys. Check it out above.

While a Punisher/Law & Order crossover is about as likely to actually happen as Frank Castle retiring from fighting crime in order to become an accountant, the idea is a pretty amusing one, especially trying to imagine a scenario in which Castle has to work alongside established characters from the L&O franchise. One that Castle might actually get along with is SVU's former lead Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), a man who became famous for his willingness to get physical with suspects.

At the end of the day though, Law & Order's cops and lawyers would probably get along with The Punisher about as well as Daredevil did. There might be some part of them that respects Castle for taking out the garbage, but most would likely feel that such a murderous vigilante has no place on the streets. Luckily for Castle, many of the law enforcers in Marvel's version of NYC aren't quite as morally sound as people like Lennie Briscoe and Jack McCoy.
