You Can Also Be Black Panther in Marvel's VR Game

Last July at D23, Marvel and Oculus VR unveiled the first ever Marvel VR game called Marvel Powers United VR. And this July, the full game finally releases.

The initial announcement teased several playable Marvel Comics superheroes including Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Rocket Racoon (alongside a cameo by Lockjaw hinting at Inhumans) emphasizing that they're going with wildly unique and different characters to offer a) different gameplay experiences and b) much-welcome diversity. Since then, other heroes have joined the roster including Deadpool, Black Bolt, Crystal, and Thor - slowly unveiled as their TV Shows and movies released. That brings us to seven, but there's another.

Coming after the record-breaking success of his self-titled movie Black Panther and a shocking return in Avengers: Infinity War, T'Challa himself - King of Wakanda - is the eighth and newest playable character in Marvel Powers United VR. The news comes as Marvel Powers United VR becomes available to pre-order here.

It’s been a little under a year since we first announced MARVEL Powers United VR —a new co-op VR game from Marvel Games, Sanzaru Games, and Oculus Studios that lets you live out your innermost Super Hero fantasies. So far, we’ve peeled back the curtain on seven of our playable characters: Captain Marvel, The Hulk, Rocket Raccoon, Deadpool, Black Bolt, Crystal, and Thor. Today, we’re excited to reveal that Black Panther is joining the lineup! The game will ship on July 26, you can pre-order yours today for $39.99 USD.

Wield the powers of the Panther God while playing as T’Challa, king of the secluded African nation of Wakanda. In addition to incredible super-human strength, agility, and endurance, your advanced Vibranium-powered suit will help you protect your home and join your allies when they need help.

The game looks great but no one's excited to play Black Bolt and Crystal from the terrible failure that is the cancelled Inhumans TV show. At least the Thor: Ragnarok tie-in looks good! Should have banked on the X-Men instead! We wonder now if Ant-Man and the Wasp could join the fray, offering another unique gameplay mechanic - being tiny or gigantic!
