When will Marvel Studios official reveal its MCU Phase 4 slate? The broad strokes of Marvel's five-year plan for Phase 4 are fairly well known, but for the most part, President Kevin Feige has been quiet on any and all details: the MCU movie releasing in May 2020 has yet to be confirmed (although is widely believed to be Black Widow). But as we enter a post-Avengers: Endgame world, it's becoming increasingly clear some MCU future news will arrive soon.

MCU Phase 3 was famously announced at a special fan event in October 2014, but that's unlikely to happen this time. Feige has stated that there won't be the same grand announcement. With that in mind, there are really two main contenders for when Marvel Studios will reveal more Phase 4 slate news: San Diego Comic-Con, happening July 18-23, 2019, and D23, which will take place August 23-25, 2019. Marvel Studios has unveiled information about its MCU films in the past at both of these pivotal conventions, so it feels likely they will go this route again this summer.

However, it's hard to tell whether Marvel Studios will share new information at one event or both. This is what we know about Marvel Studios' actions in the past when it has come to revealing new information about upcoming MCU films, and what we expect when it comes to the Phase 4 announcement.

Option A: Marvel Reveals The MCU Phase 4 Slate at SDCC 2019

San Diego Comic Con has traditionally served as the venue for studios to roll out major news about upcoming, eagerly-awaited films. For Marvel Studios, SDCC has been the prime time to tease their upcoming slate of films and gives fans previews in the forms of new concept art, trailers, behind-the-scenes photos, exclusive interviews, and beyond. If there was ever a time for Marvel to unveil exact details about Phase 4, their Hall H panel at SDCC 2019 would be the place to do it. There's been no confirmation of Marvel's plans but SDCC 2019 is coming up quick, so news of the studio's plans should emerge soon.

When Marvel was last at Comic-Con in 2017, Phase 3 films Thor: RagnarokBlack PantherAvengers: Infinity WarAnt-Man & the Wasp, and Captain Marvel were all previewed. Trailers for the former three films were shown, casting for the Ant-Man sequel was revealed, and fans got a first look at Carol Danvers.

Option B: Marvel Reveal The MCU Phase 4 Slate at D23

Marvel has confirmed they will have a panel at D23, Disney's own convention, so the chances of some Phase 4 revelations happening at this event are very good. The presentations will be in Hall D at the Anaheim Convention Center this year. On August 23 (Day 1), Marvel has plans to start the day with the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony where they will award actors Robert Downey Jr., Ming-Na Wen, Jon Favreau, and James Earl Jones for their contributions to Disney and Marvel Studios. The afternoon will be all about the shows coming to Disney+, possibly including Loki and WandaVision.

But the real action - and when Phase 4 details will most likely be revealed - is happening on August 24 (Day 2 of the panel). Disney will unveil film plans for Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar Animation, Disney Animation, and Disney's live-action division. This would be prime time for Marvel to confirm the exact release dates for each of the Phase 4 films and potentially tease new information about one, a few, or all of the films.

Option C: Marvel Splits Up The MCU Phase 4 Reveal Between SDCC And D23

There's a chance that Marvel will choose to draw out the reveal of their Phase 4 slate and drop information at SDCC and D23. It's unconventional to do so but there's certainly enough hunger from fans to know anything and everything about Phase 4 that it would be worth assuring they tune in for both events to get up to speed. There's no precedent set by Marvel for doing this, but then neither was there for the Phase 3 info dump either.
