Marvel's new Daredevil is about to face the wrath of some of his most iconic villains. In the solicits for Daredevil #28, Elektra is continuing Daredevil's legacy in Hell's Kitchen and along the way, she'll face a number of potent villains including Typhoid Mary, Hammerhead, and Kingpin. Nobody has ever said being Daredevil was easy.
The status quo recently changed in Hell's Kitchen in Chip Zdarksy and Marco Checchetto's excellent Daredevil ongoing series. The Man Without Fear went on trial for mistakingly killing a criminal - and surprisingly pled guilty to the charges in an effort to take responsibility for his actions. After Elektra visits a masked Matt Murdock in prison, he told her she'll need to prove if she wants to work for the light or the darkness. In an effort to show she's changed, the former supervillain made her own red costume and became the new Daredevil.
Elektra's turn as Daredevil won't come without Matt's usual problems. As a new solicit for Daredevil #28 teases that she will be facing some of the original hero's biggest villains while attempting to patrol Hell's Kitchen. She's going to have to go up against mayor Wilson Fisk, Typhoid Mary, The Owl, Hammerhead, and more of the city's most menacing villains. Elektra won't have much time to learn on the job, as she'll be thrown into the action immediately as Hell's Kitchen's new Daredevil. However, she's not exactly a rookie as she's proven to be both a valuable asset and a major pain in the side to Matt Murdock. It will be interesting to see her more heroic turn that will presumably have her doing significantly less killing than she's used to. Can Elektra hold back as a hero? That's unquestionably one of the biggest question marks going forward in the series and will ultimately decide what kind of relationship she has with Matt going forward.
Meanwhile, Matt's prison stay will continue for at least a handful of issues - meaning Elektra's Daredevil is here to stay, at least for a little while. It's exciting to see a new character wear the mask and defend Marvel's most crime-riddled city. Elektra's Daredevil adventures continue as Daredevil #28 is out on March 10, 2021.
