Warning! Spoilers for Daredevil #25 below!
Marvel Comics revealed that a familiar face is taking over the role of Daredevil while Matt Murdock is in prison. In Daredevil #25, the issue ends with the revelation that Elektra Natchios has put on her own version of Daredevil's costume and has become the new protector of Hell's Kitchen.
In Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto's run on the Man Without Fear, Daredevil went on trial for mistakingly killing a criminal named Leo Carraro. While he initially intended to fight the charges of manslaughter, Daredevil (in his mask to not reveal his secret identity) ultimately decided to plead guilty to the charges, as he took responsibility for ending a man's life. After pleading guilty, Elektra informs Matt that she's the one who bought Hell's Kitchen (she stole billions from the Stromwyn's, who had control of the city) and that she'll make sure it will be safe in his absence - which Elektra really means.
In Daredevil #25, Elektra visits Matt in prison to inform him The Hand is rebuilding and she's discovered an ancient book with instructions on how to defeat them. Matt doesn't want to hear it. He tells Elektra she's a murderer and that if she's tired of the darkness and wants to work for the light, that she'll need to prove it. While later admitting Matt is a fool, Elektra understands she needs him to trust her. That's when she can be seen sporting her own version of the Daredevil suit as she decides to protect the city as the new devil of Hell's Kitchen.
Elektra's new suit is a blend of Daredevil's iconic costume and her own vigilante look. She keeps the trademark horns and the logo on her chest in the red ensemble, but she adds a neck gaiter while keeping her twin sai. She looks badass and ready to fight for Hell's Kitchen as Matt sits in prison.
It seems Elektra has turned a new leaf and intends on being a full-blown hero in place of Matt. She is eager to prove that she is on the right side of the fight as the new Daredevil. Working with Matt's longtime ally Stick, it seems Elektra will get the chance to showcase her skills as Daredevil for future issues of the arc. It's a bold choice to sideline Matt in favor of Elektra, but her becoming Daredevil feels completely earned and will surely have readers eagerly anticipating what's next as the series continues.
