All Marvel Netflix shows are officially releasing on Disney+ in March domestically, as the streaming service adds more parental controls. Netflix entered the Marvel universe in 2015 when the first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones debuted to great acclaim. They produced six shows and thirteen seasons of television over the next four years. However, the streaming service decided to begin canceling these shows in 2018 and was no longer involved with Marvel by the time Jessica Jones season 3 arrived in 2019. It was expected that all of these shows would remain on Netflix for eternity since they were exclusively made for the service.

The futures of these shows has been uncertain in recent weeks after it was revealed that all of them would leave Netflix at the end of February 2022. It originally was not clear what would happen to them next, although Disney+ Canada later confirmed Daredevil and the other Marvel Netflix shows would begin streaming there in March 2022. This sparked more confusion about what the future held for these popular titles domestically, as Disney+ doesn't have Star as a place for more adult content in the United States like most international territories. As a result, Hulu became the expected destination for all of Netflix's Marvel content.

On the day the shows left Netflix, Disney has now officially announced that all former Netflix Marvel shows will stream on Disney+ domestically. Every season of DaredevilJessica JonesIron FistLuke CageThe Punisher, and The Defenders will be available starting March 16, 2022. ABC's Agents of SHIELD will also move to Disney+ on this date after previously being on Netflix. The Marvel Netflix shows will maintain their original TV-MA ratings, a first for Disney+. As a result, Disney+ will also implement new parental control starting March 16. Michael Paull, President of Disney Streaming, highlighted the news in a statement focusing on Marvel's content remaining primarily in one place:

Disney+ has served as the home for some of the most beloved brands in the industry, and the addition of these live-action shows brings more from the Marvel brand together, all in one place. As we continue to build greater value for consumers seeking high-quality movies and sereis, we are at the same time being responsive to those changes on the platform. We have experienced great success with this on Disney+ across our global markets and will continue that here in the U.S. as we ll by offering our consumers not only great content, but also a set of features that help ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family.

Daredevil and Marvel Defenders on Netflix

Once all Marvel Netflix shows are available on Disney+ in roughly two weeks, all subscribers will be asked to update their settings to either allow TV-MA content or put it behind a PIN. Those who switch to allow TV-MA content will be given full access to DaredevilJessica Jones, and the other Defenders shows. Accounts that are restricted to TV-14 or lower content will not be able to watch these shows, while adults can also put specific profiles on a shared account behind a user-selected PIN. Parents can also add additional safety measures to Kids Profiles now and can change the content settings at any time moving forward.

The confirmation of Daredevil and Netflix's other Marvel shows coming to Disney+ is a huge win for audiences. Marvel fans will now still have access to these shows on Disney+ and be able to watch most of Marvel's content on the streaming service. It will be interesting to see what section of Marvel's corner of Disney+ they fall under, as them receiving "Legacy" status could finally confirm these shows are not officially MCU canon. Regardless, this is also a big move for the future of Disney's streaming service, as R-rated content and other more adult content could start to shift to Disney+ instead of Hulu. Marvel could benefit here too, as previous Fox movies like Logan and Deadpool could now find a home on Disney+.
