Marvel's The Defenders had a little fun today on Twitter, trolling each other ahead of their team-up series later this summer. The Defenders will be bringing together Marvel and Netflix's four existing heroes for a team-up series, in addition to the continuation of each individual show. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist have been a huge success for the streaming service, and fans are looking forward to seeing these four get together to dole out a little justice in New York.

Ahead of the team-up, fans have been checking in with the shows (and the heroes) via social media, as well. Marvel is known for having a lot of fun with their social media presence, and the Defenders are no exception to this trend. This week, the four series enjoyed trolling each other on Twitter, after Daredevil shared a clip for #throwbackthursday.

The clip posted was a few seconds of Daredevil (Charlie Cox) duking it out with Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho), captioned "Down but not out." Luke Cage was the first to respond, taunting Daredevil: "You scared of a little old lady?" Daredevil responds "YUP," before the other two get involved. Iron Fist says "She looks familiar," and Jessica Jones gets a dig in at Danny, with "One of your swipe rights?"

You scared of a little old lady?— Luke Cage (@LukeCage) June 8, 2017

She looks familiar...— Iron Fist (@MarvelIronFist) June 8, 2017

Oh yeah? One of your swipe rights?— Jessica Jones (@JessicaJones) June 8, 2017

It's fun to see these four interacting ahead of the show on social media, especially with some lighthearted trolling. It's likely that this kind of dynamic is similar to that which will play out on screen, too -- with Daredevil and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) challenging each other and competing with each other, and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) getting a little savage with rich-kid Danny Rand (Finn Jones).

Of course, this is just the people who run those accounts poking fun at each other, and isn't going to be directly connected to the plot of the show itself. That would mean some serious fourth-wall-breaking, and that's not something that fans should be expecting. However, it's an enjoyable way to get fans interacting, liking, and re-tweeting on social media ahead of the August release, and we're hoping to see a lot more of it in the coming weeks.

The Defenders takes the fight to Netflix on August 18, with The Punisher coming later this year. Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1, and Iron Fist season 1 are now available on Netflix. New seasons of Jessica JonesDaredevil, and Luke Cage will premiere in 2018.
