All 13 Marvel Movies Releasing After Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its expansion with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and there’s already a long list of movies coming after it. The MCU is currently in its Multiverse Saga, which as the name says, is exploring the dangers and mysteries of the multiverse, but it’s also taking time to continue the stories of already-established characters. Such is the case of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the long-awaited sequel to Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther, which will take the audience back to Wakanda to reunite with the royal family.

Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever sees the leaders of Wakanda fighting to protect their nation from invading forces following the death of King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), while a new threat emerges from Talokan, a hidden undersea nation ruled by Namor (Tenoch Huerta) – and in addition to all this, Wakanda will see the rise of a new Black Panther. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marks the end of the MCU’s Phase 4, but Phase 5 is already at full capacity and Phase 6 is housing some of the most anticipated releases of the Multiverse Saga. Here are the 12 MCU movies releasing after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Kicking off the MCU’s Phase 5 is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), along with her parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Scott’s daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) going on an unexpected adventure into the Quantum Realm. Once there, they will make a dangerous discovery as they come across Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) and Janet reveals some dark secrets from her time in the Quantum Realm. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be the proper introduction of the Multiverse Saga’s villain, Kang the Conqueror, so it will be one of the most important movies in this new era. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released on February 17, 2023.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The Guardians of the Galaxy are coming back in a third solo adventure, appropriately titled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, directed by James Gunn. Plot details are still unknown, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set after the events of Endgame and will see Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), who is still dealing with the loss of Gamora (Zoe Saldaña), leading the team on a mission to defend the universe and protect one of their own. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will introduce Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), whose arrival was teased in one of the post-credits scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), who will serve as the villain. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for a May 5, 2023, release.

The Marvels

The Marvels is the sequel to Captain Marvel and the continuation of the TV series Ms. Marvel. Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels will see Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) swapping places every time they use their powers, so they will have to team up to figure out why this is happening. The Marvels will also see the return of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Flerken Goose, with Zawe Ashton joining as the villain. The Marvels will be released on July 28, 2023.

Captain America: New World Order

Captain America: New World is the continuation of the miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and as such, it will be Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) first proper adventure as the new Captain America. Plot details about Captain America: New World Order are still unknown, but the project will be directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) and will see the return of various MCU characters, such as Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumby), Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), Samuel Sterns/Leader (Tim Blake Nelson), and Thaddeus Ross, now played by Harrison Ford, and it will introduce Sabra (Shira Haas). Captain America: New World Order is scheduled for a May 3, 2024 release.

Thunderbolts

The MCU will see a new team in Thunderbolts, to be directed by Jake Schreier. Plot details about Thunderbolts are unknown, but the characters that will form this peculiar team have already been revealed: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Yelena Belova/Black Widow (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Harrison Ford is expected to reprise his role as Thaddeus Ross in Thunderbolts, and it’s projected to be released on July 26, 2024.

Blade

The MCU is also exploring its supernatural side in its Multiverse Saga, and joining this part is Blade, with Mahershala Ali in the title role. Bassam Tariq was originally attached to direct but left the project in September 2022, and plot details haven’t been revealed, but it will reportedly feature the Ebony Blade, which was introduced in the mid-credits scene of Eternals. Blade is scheduled for a September 6, 2024 release.

Deadpool 3

One of the most anticipated releases of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga is Deadpool 3, which was finally confirmed to be in development in March 2022 when Shawn Levy was announced as director. Deadpool 3 will not only see the return of Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth but also the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, whose appearance is said to not undo the events of Logan. At the time of writing, Deadpool 3 is the movie that will kick off the MCU’s Phase 6 and is expected to be released on November 8, 2024.

Fantastic Four

The MCU’s Phase 6 will see some of the biggest and most anticipated projects of this connected universe, among them Fantastic Four. The team was confirmed to be coming to the MCU in 2019, but it wasn’t until 2022 that the project was given a release date and a place in the Multiverse Saga. Matt Shakman will direct Fantastic Four after Jon Watts dropped out, and it’s unknown if it will see John Krasinski back as Mr. Fantastic after his appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or if it will introduce a different cast. Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released on February 14, 2025.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

The Multiverse Saga will see another massive team-up in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, to be directed by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton and with a script by Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness. Plot details are a mystery, but as the title suggests, it will see the rise of Kang the Conqueror, and will follow the events that will trigger the Secret Wars event in the MCU. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be released on May 2, 2025.

Avengers: Secret Wars

Following Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the MCU’s Phase 6 will close with Avengers: Secret Wars, based on the comic book event Secret Wars. The project will be written by Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and doesn’t have a director yet, but it’s scheduled for a May 1, 2026, release.

Armor Wars (TBA)

After being originally announced as a TV series for Disney+, Armor Wars will now be a movie, though it doesn’t have a place yet in the Multiverse Saga. Armor Wars will be based on the comic book storyline of the same name and will reportedly see Rhodey (Don Cheadle) trying to stop Tony Stark’s technology from falling into the wrong hands. Armor Wars will be set after the events of the TV series Secret Invasion, and it doesn’t have a projected release date yet.

Shang-Chi 2 (TBA)

After the success of his debut movie, Shang-Chi is expected to return in a sequel, which was announced to be in development back in December 2021. Shang-Chi 2 is expected to have Destin Daniel Cretton back as director and writer, and Simu Liu reprising his role as the title hero. Shang-Chi 2 doesn’t have a place in the Multiverse Saga yet and as such doesn’t have a release date either.

Spider-Man 4 (TBA)

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is expected to return to the MCU in a fourth solo adventure as Marvel and Sony are reportedly working on a new trilogy. Spider-Man 4 will reunite the audience with Peter Parker after he was left all alone at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) had to cast a spell that made everyone forget Peter. This left the door open for a variety of storylines and characters that can now join Peter’s MCU journey, but just like Armor Wars and Shang-Chi 2, Spider-Man 4 doesn’t have a release date yet nor a spot in the Multiverse Saga.
