Marvel's Midnight Suns might not be coming out until next year, but 2K Games is already offering up a free alternate Blade skin. This supernatural superhero tactical RPG was announced during last week’s Gamescom livestream event after months of speculation regarding XCOM developer Firaxis’s mystery Marvel game, which was first hinted at in a 2K-based leak back in June.

The story of Marvel's Midnight Suns goes that Hydra has summoned Lilith, the Mother of Demons, to aid them in their goal of defeating the Avengers and conquering the world. Players are put in the role of the Hunter, a fully customizable child of Lilith that is awakened by Dr. Strange and other mystical heroes to help defeat their wicked mother and the sinister forces of the underworld she commands. As the Hunter, players will be able to befriend some of the Marvel Universe’s greatest champions (though anyone looking to romance Captain America or Iron Man will be sorely disappointed) and plan out battles from their home base known as the Abbey.

Just a couple of days ago, 2K Games announced that fans who sign up for the new Marvel's Midnight Suns newsletter will gain free access to an exclusive Blade skin on the official Midnight Suns Twitter page. Dubbed the "Nightwalker" skin, this alternate costume puts the legendary vampire hunter in his standard black leather jacket and a blood-red undershirt and will be available when Marvel's Midnight Suns launches in March 2022.

While initial reports claimed that Marvel’s Midnight Suns would take after Firaxis’s own XCOM games, it was later made clear that the game would be dramatically different from XCOM aside from sharing the tactical RPG genre. Midnight Suns will also stand out from other Marvel offerings like Insomniac’s Marvel's Spider-Man series or the upcoming Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. It'll do this by focusing more on the supernatural elements of the Marvel Universe and arcane-themed heroes. Familiar faces like the aforementioned Dr. Strange and Blade along with Ghost Rider, The Runaways’ Nico Minoru, and Magik of The New Mutants.

It may seem a little odd for Marvel's Midnight Suns to already be offering up alternate DLC skins given how far away the game’s launch is, but the Blade Nightstalker skin looks pretty cool – not to mention being a sign that 2K Games and Firaxis are fully committed to promoting their promising new superhero title. In the meantime, a new gameplay livestream for Marvel’s Midnight Suns is currently planned for September 1st, giving players a closer look at this dark superhero adventure ahead of its planned release next March.
