The Skrulls are taking the center stage in the upcoming TV series Secret Invasion, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Marvel TV may have teased the presence of Skrulls on Earth back in 2018. The MCU has gone through a lot of changes in order to become the extensive connected universe it is now, and after going through some hits and misses with Marvel TV a couple of years ago, it’s now building its own branch of TV shows that connects directly to the movie side of this universe. However, the Netflix Marvel shows now seem to be part of the MCU’s main timeline thanks to the return of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, though placing them in the timeline can be tricky sometimes.

Among those TV shows is Jessica Jones, which introduced the audience to the title character (played by Krysten Ritter), a former superhero and now a private investigator working at her own detective agency. As such, Jessica heard about a variety of problems and mysteries in and around Hell’s Kitchen, of which some turned out to be a lot more dangerous and complex than they seemed. With Jessica Jones now part of the MCU, viewers have been trying to find connections to the MCU, and one seemingly unimportant moment in season 2 might link the show to the MCU through the Skrulls.

How Jessica Jones Might Have Teased Skrulls In Season 2

Jessica Jones Skrulls tease

In the first episode of Jessica Jones season 2, Jessica is shown once more listening to the stories of potential clients, as she’s a picky detective and won’t take any case that is presented to her. Among those asking for Jessica’s help is a young woman telling her that there are “lizards wearing human skins and taking over the government”, with Jessica not being able to hide her disbelief and discomfort at such a wild idea (and that someone is actually coming to her with a case like that). However, this could be a hidden tease of the Skrulls already blending in with humans on Earth, which makes sense with what the MCU has been building since Captain Marvel.

Marvel used Carol Danvers’ (Brie Larson) first solo adventure to officially introduce the Skrulls, a technologically advanced race of reptilian humanoids with shapeshifting abilities, which allow them to replicate other lifeforms seamlessly. Thanks to this, the Skrulls are already hiding in plain sight on Earth, as seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Talos and Soren were revealed to be posing as Nick Fury and Maria Hill, respectively, while Fury was away. Although at the time Jessica Jones season 2 came out it was understood that the young woman was talking about reptilians, with Skrulls now blending in with humans and them taking the center stage in Secret Invasion, it’s possible that she knew a lot more than she was supposed to and she was warning Jessica Jones (and viewers) about Skrulls, more so as Talos and company first arrived to Earth in the 1990s, so it fits the timeline.

Will Jessica Jones Appear In The MCU’s Multiverse Saga?

Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones

Daredevil’s return and introduction to the MCU have fueled hopes and speculation about Jessica Jones’ return, more so as the Multiverse Saga is preparing for two massive crossover events with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. In addition to that, a part of the Multiverse Saga is focusing on street-level heroes, so if there’s an ideal moment to bring Jessica Jones back and make her an official part of the MCU, it’s now – though it's unlikely she will make an appearance in Secret Invasion. However, there’s nothing official on Jessica Jones’ return (yet?), though there are a bunch of rumors about her making a surprise appearance in Echo or Daredevil: Born Again, so it’s to be seen if Marvel is really planning to bring her back right on time for the upcoming crossover events or if it will take longer for her to return.
