Hawkeye season 1 may be over, but Marvel still has over a dozen TV shows left in the pipeline for Phase 4. Now that Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Hawkeye season finale have been released, Marvel Studios has officially finished out 2021. Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, 2021 has proven to be a historic year for the MCU.

Though some of the projects originally intended for Marvel’s 2021 plan were ultimately pushed back to 2022, the year has been rich with new MCU content. In 2021 alone, Marvel released a total of four new movies. But that’s only part of what has made this year so busy for the studio. Its Disney+ lineup has delivered five new Marvel shows, which have all been significant installments in the MCU. The live-action shows in particular have brought back a long list of returning characters, advanced their stories forward, and built on its world.

2021 has set a high bar for the years to come. And looking at what Marvel has on the agenda for 2022 and 2023, it’s clear that the studio has no intention of slowing down anytime soon. On top of a packed movie schedule that includes 12 new MCU releases, Marvel still has 18 shows on the horizon. Here’s every series on the way, and when to expect them.

Ms. Marvel - Early-Mid 2022

Initially expect to arrive in late 2021 after Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel is believed to be the first MCU show releasing in 2022. Nothing is official yet, but reports point to it premiering in the first few months of the year. Starring Iman Vellani as its titular superhero, Ms. Marvel will explore the origin story of the MCU’s first Muslim superhero ahead of her big-screen team-up with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) in The Marvels.

She-Hulk - 2022

Played by Tatiana Maslany, the Green Goliath’s cousin will make her live-action debut in Disney+’s She-Hulk show, which should release after Ms. Marvel. Described as a “half-hour legal comedy”, She-Hulk is sure to be quite different from the more recent MCU shows, like Hawkeye. Similar to Ms. Marvel, its focus will be on a new MCU hero, but its cast does include some familiar faces, such as Smart Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Abomination (Emil Blonsky). Based on what was shown in the released footage, Smart Hulk will guide Maslany’s character as she learns to control her new She-Hulk transformation.

Moon Knight – 2022

Oscar Isaac is joining the MCU in 2022 as Moon Knight, a vigilante chosen to be the champion of Khonshu, the Egyptian moon god. For years, the Crescent Crusader has been labeled a Batman clone, but Moon Knight is giving Marvel a chance to prove that comparison wrong. The upcoming Disney+ series is expected to be a psychological thriller that deals heavily with the character’s mental health and dissociative identity disorder. The show will also feature Ethan Hawke as a villain whose identity has yet to be revealed.

Secret Invasion - 2022

Samuel L Jackson as old Nick Fury in Secret Invasion

There was a time when there were theories that Marvel was using its Skrull teases in Spider-Man: Far From Home to set up a Secret Invasion movie. Instead, it turned out that Marvel was actually building toward a TV show. Secret Invasion will be an adaptation of the comic book crossover of the same name, which saw Earth’s heroes discover that the Skrulls had infiltrated several levels of society, including its superhero teams. Headlining the show is Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, with Ben Mendelson’s Talos and Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill returning as well.

Werewolf by Night - Late 2022

Werewolf by Night roaring and launching at someone in Marvel Comics

Marvel is set to begin filming a Disney+ Halloween special in early 2022. Played by Latino actor Gael Garcia Bernal, the lead character is Werewolf by Night, a major figure from the supernatural side of the Marvel Universe and a hero cursed with lycanthropy. Since an actor has already been cast and filming on track to start soon, it seems quite plausible that Marvel is targeting an October 2022 release. If not, Werewolf by Night may not hit the small screen until the next Halloween.

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special - Late 2022

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Marvel may have back-to-back seasonal Disney+ releases in 2022. Directed by James Gunn, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be the second of three confirmed MCU appearances for Star-Lord’s team in Phase 4. Following their adventure with Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder but before the search for Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 the team will encounter someone who Gunn has called “one of the greatest MCU characters of all time.”

Ironheart

One of the new MCU characters set to be introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams, a teenage genius who makes her own Iron Man armor and decides to follow in his footsteps in the comics. After Wakanda Forever, Williams will star in her own Disney+ series. Named for her superhero alter ego, Ironheart could be on the schedule for 2023, especially since Wakanda Forever won’t arrive until November 2023.

Armor Wars

Don Cheadle’s War Machine will take center stage for the first time in Armor Wars, the second MCU show tied to Iron Man’s legacy. In Marvel Comics, “Armor Wars” was a story about Iron Man embarking on a crusade to retrieve his stolen armor designs. This connection indicates that in the MCU’s take on the story, it will be up to War Machine to ensure that Tony Stark’s technology isn’t used for evil purposes.

I Am Groot

One member of the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy will take the spotlight in a series of kid-friendly shorts, titled I am Groot. Though this hasn’t been officially confirmed, it’s been widely assumed that Vin Diesel will be back to voice the fan-favorite character. Groot was at a teenage phase during his last movie, Avengers: Endgame, and could be older upon his return.

Marvel’s What If…? Season 2

Later in Phase 4, Marvel’s What If…? season 2 will repeat the formula of the first season, which offered several standalone stories about alternate scenarios tied to MCU events. Whilst season 1 was limited only to movies from the Infinity Saga, Marvel’s What If…? is confirmed to encompass characters and events from Phase 4. As for when it could release, a 2022 premiere isn’t off the table. After all, season 2 was ordered far in advance and scripts have already been written.

Loki Season 2

He Who Remains playing with an apple in Loki

Loki, which has already been renewed for season 2, could return in 2023 if filming begins in early 2022. Either way, it will most assuredly tie in with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will feature Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror as the main villain. When Loki ended, Tom Hiddleston’s character was faced with a changed reality. As a result of Sylvie’s decision to kill He Who Remains, Kang has rewritten the timeline and put himself in charge of the TVA.

Untitled Wakanda Spinoff

Shuri

Marvel is gearing up to make multiple Wakanda Forever spinoffs, with Ironheart just being the beginning. There’s also a series in the works that will focus on various figures in Wakandan society. Many could be existing characters from the Black Panther movies. Ryan Coogler will be in charge of the show’s development.

Untitled Okoye Spinoff

Regardless of whether or not Okoye (Danai Gurira) is a part of Marvel’s plans for the Wakanda spinoff, she does indeed have a future in the MCU after Wakanda Forever. The leader of the Dora Milaje will be the main protagonist of an additional TV series connected to Black Panther’s world. Since the show will reportedly enter production in 2023, a 2024 release would make sense.

Spider-Man: Freshman Year

The MCU notably skipped Peter Parker’s origin story in Phase 3, but can use Spider-Man: Freshman Year as an opportunity to fill in some important gaps. As the title implies, the animated series will revolve around Parker’s first year as a wall-crawling superhero and could highlight some of the super-powered threats he fought before crossing paths with Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Agatha: House of Harkness

In the WandaVision finale, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) punished Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) for her actions by magically placing her in the role of “the nosy neighbor” on a seemingly permanent basis. The recently announced Agatha: House of Harkness spinoff will presumably explore what comes next for the WandaVision villain. It could also dive a bit deeper into the mystical corner of the MCU.

Echo

Hawkeye isn’t the last viewers will see of Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez. Long before Hawkeye even premiered, it was known that Cox would be starring in her own Echo spinoff sometime after her debut. Marvel hasn’t revealed any details about the series (or a release date), but it’s likely that it’ll connect in some way with Hawkeye’s ending, which suggested that Echo killed Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio).

An episode of Marvel’s What If…? revealed a timeline where the MCU’s heroes were overtaken by a zombie virus. The episode was essentially a tribute to the Marvel Zombies comics, which were also set in an alternate universe. As many have hoped, the MCU’s Marvel Zombies timeline will serve as the setting of a spinoff series. Like What If…?, Marvel Zombies will be an animated project.

X-Men '97

Decades after its cancellation, Fox’s X-Men cartoon is being revived by Marvel Studios. Complete with most of the original voice actors, X-Men’s Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, Storm, Jean Grey, Rogue, Beast, and Jubilee will have their story continued with a fifth season that was once thought impossible. Since it’s a continuation of an existing story, X-Men ’97 is expected to be separate from the MCU, but there is a chance that its characters live in one of the worlds in the MCU’s multiverse.
