Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won't say when Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ends. Shortly after the conclusion of Phase 3 and the decade-long story now known as the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios officially announced what was coming next. The initial wave of movies and TV shows came at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, which is where movies from Black Widow to Blade were announced, as well as Disney+ series like WandaVision and Hawkeye.

When these announcements were made, Feige said in interviews that followed that this was the entirety of Phase 4. He even confirmed that Phase 4 lasted just two years. At the time, that covered content through the end of 2021 with Thor: Love and Thunder. However, Marvel announced more TV shows just a few months later, nearly lost Spider-Man, reshuffled the entire slate due to the coronavirus pandemic, and then announced another batch of films and shows. There are now 25 Marvel Studios properties confirmed to be in the works, so where exactly does Phase 4 end?

Kevin Feige recently took part in a virtual press junket for WandaVision, which included him fielding questions from various outlets about the MCU's first Disney+ show and the future. During the press junket, Murphy's Multiverse asked Feige if he could provide some clarity on where Phase 4 ends. Instead of a non-answer that sidesteps the question at hand, Feige simply said, "No," in response.

Feige's refusal to shed more light on when Phase 4 ends could potentially be revealing. Due to everything that has happened since the slate was originally announced, it is clear that whatever Phase 4 looks like now, it is different than what Marvel announced in 2019. The five movies originally announced are still set to be some of the first out the gate, but the order has changed and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 is coming before some of them. Meanwhile, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings now comes before Eternals.

Marvel has proven to be rather flexible with the Phase 4 slate through the last year and a half, and there's no guarantee that more changes won't be made. That's why it shouldn't come as too big of a surprise that Feige preferred not to elaborate on where Phase 4 ends and Phase 5 begins. There are even some fans who think Marvel is moving away from the Phase structure and that there won't be a real Phase 4 after all. It might not even ultimately matter when Phase 4 ends, but for now, there's no clarification on what major event film will do that. Instead, Marvel Studios is working on turning several of their upcoming projects into Avengers-level events.
