Iron Man is an iconic Marvel character that has more armored suits than you can shake an Infinity Stone at, with one MCU hero getting a metallic upgrade in the far future that makes him even more equipped for a fight than usual: the archer extraordinaire Hawkeye!

Two long-time members of The Avengers, Iron Man and Hawkeye don’t always see eye to eye in every situation despite being on the same team and fighting for the same causes. One man a brilliant hi-tech billionaire, and the other a sharpshooter with uncanny skills, Clint receiving an Iron Man-esque set of armor might initially seem out of place for him, but thanks to a row between Clint and Tony in the future, his new choice in suit material makes more sense than fans could have expected.

Hawkeye Gets An Iron Man Upgrade In Marvel's Far Future

Old Hawkeye has iron man armor in the future

An armored makeover given to Hawkeye during the 2014 event titled Original Sin, by Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato, wherein the heroes of the Marvel Universe work together to investigate the death of Uatu the Watcher, Avengers #30 (2013), by Jonathan Hickman and Leinil Yu, sees the Avengers, consisting of Iron Man, Hawkeye, Captain America, and more, sent almost 50 years into the future thanks to a Time Stone that isn’t exactly working as advertised. Already a bit nippy with one another once they land, it isn’t long before they’re sprung upon by a set of automated Iron Man suits and then, to everyone’s surprise, a familiar face in a decades-older Hawkeye clad in an iron-made suit of his own!

Arriving on the scene with his future Avengers Union team right after the past Avengers handily deal with the Iron Man drones zipping about, Old Hawkeye brandishes a futuristic look complete with his trusty bow and arrow that’s as hi-tech as it gets. Wearing a purple, black, and blue set of bulky power armor sans a helmet, it’s not immediately clear whether Clint needs this get-up to function in his twilight years (doubtful as he claims he’s a better bowman than his younger self currently is) or if it’s due to some injury sustained during the terrible event that Old Hawkeye blames Iron Man for; something that he makes known when he socks Tony across the face with a clenched metal fist.

The Future Is Now For "Iron Man" Hawkeye!

And while it isn’t long before the Avengers are sucked back into the time stream and spit out hundreds of years later, Hawkeye getting his own version of Iron Man’s armor is a pretty badass footnote in his temporal history. The MCU may have a new Hawkeye in Kate Bishop and no true Iron Man at the moment, but that doesn’t mean this armored look won’t get its silver screen debut sometime soon, especially with Kang mucking up the time stream!
