Richard E. Grant, who appears in the upcoming Disney+ Loki show, becomes old Loki in new fan art that plays up rumors of his role in the series. One of many that Disney is currently producing from the MCU, including HawkeyeWandaVisionMs. MarvelShe-Hulk, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki will run six episodes and is expected to debut on the entertainment giant's streaming service in 2021. Tom Hiddleston, who has played the mischievous god since Thor, will reprise his role from the movies.

Set in the MCU, but taking place in the alternate timeline created when Loki steals the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame, the show will feature Loki traveling through time while on the run from authorities. The series also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sasha Lane, and Sophia Di Martino. Additionally, Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) recently confirmed that he'd appear in at least one episode of the show. There is no confirmation of who anyone is playing yet, but speculation that Grant, who looks eerily similar to Hiddleston, will play an older version of Loki has been rife.

Digital artist ApexForm has turned that speculation into a new piece of fan art, which puts Grant in Loki's costume, most notably his horned helmet that he's seen wearing in Avengers and Thor. Grant's eyes are also given a bright green tinge, while his resemblance to Hiddleston is emphasized by having the actor's face placed just above his. You can see the artwork below:

If the rumors do turn out to be accurate, and Grant does indeed make a guest appearance as old Loki, it's uncertain how he'd appear or whether he'd be dressed up in all of the finery seen here. But there's no doubt he'd look very convincing, based on the evidence above, and would be a dead ringer for Hiddleston's younger version of the character. With filming having resumed on the show, fans will likely find out sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, speculation over just when in the MCU the show will take Loki has been building. Given the new cast and characters, the theory that Loki turns up in earlier MCU films doesn't seem likely. It's more likely that he'll appear at momentous times in human history and get into some trouble for changing the past. An early trailer for Marvel's Disney+ shows hinted at him getting put in time travel jail, an event that would make sense for the trickster.
