Marvel's next Avenger- level threat is coming this winter. Thanks to Venom, Knull The God of Symbiotes is on his way to Earth. He will be one of the strongest opponents Marvel's heroes have ever faced. Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's Knull character is so powerful that it will take the combined strength of the Marvel Comic Universe to challenge him.

Writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman have been slowly building up to this event through the recent Venom and Absolute Carnage runs. Knull The God of Symbiotes is the creator of the infamous black symbiote that is bonded to Eddie Brock. He is also inadvertently the creator of the red symbiote which uses serial killer Cletus Kasady as a host to become Carnage. As the creator of the entire Klyntar race, Knull is evil incarnate. He is so evil that his own creations rose up against him to imprison him and free the universe from the virus that is The God of Symbiotes. But he is imprisoned no more.

Knull is a villain so strong that he has once killed a Celestial. A being as old as the universe itself, obsessed with the darkness. Since Knull has existed before creation, he longs to create a universe that is as black as before the Celestials began creating life. Writer Donny Cates describes The King in Black as "the coolest, darkest, most heavy metal, Cthulhu dark horror thing I've ever been able to do."

Carnage, the apostle of Knull has manipulated Venom into releasing Knull from the planet of symbiotes that he created. After gathering pieces from every symbiote host on Earth, Carnage used Venom as the final key to unlocking his God. Eddie Brock did all he could to save his son Dylan Brock but in the end, he doomed the world.

After releasing Knull, Eddie realizes he needs help, the planet Earth needs help. Eddie approaches The Avengers to break the bad news. Tony is outraged after understanding how dangerous the impending threat will be. Knull is coming, and he is not alone. Marvel's new teaser highlights an army of Grendel dragons, formed from the planet that once entrapped Knull. The sky is blood red as the King in Black descends upon a world that is unsuspecting, full of life, and completely unprepared for the darkness that Knull has craved since the dawn of time. Venom will need all the help he can get to protect his son this December in The King in Black.
