Marvel's latest Hulu series, Helstrom, is currently eyeing a fall premiere date. Hulu officially ordered Helstrom last year alongside a planned Ghost Rider series starring Gabriel Luna. However, Ghost Rider ended up not being picked up, but Helstrom continued on as planned. Updates were slow to come for a while, but in March, stars of the series confirmed production on season 1 of Helstrom had officially finished. The series follows siblings Daimon (Tom Austen) and Ana (Sydney Lemmon) as they hunt down the very worst of humanity. Additionally, both struggle with the trauma of having a powerful serial killer for a father. Helstrom also stars Elizabeth Marvel, Robert Wisdom, June Carryl, Ariana Guerra, and Alain Uy.

Helstrom arrives at a time when the landscape of Marvel television shows is changing. For years, Marvel Television created a plethora of shows that technically existed within the MCU, but very rarely connected to it. Most of these shows were fairly well received, especially in the case of Netflix series like Daredevil and Luke CageHowever, news broke last year that Marvel Studios is absorbing Marvel TV and taking over the television side. Numerous shows are currently in development for Disney+, and the last original Marvel TV show, Agents of SHIELD, will end this summer. Helstrom, meanwhile, was initially in development with Marvel Television but is now under Marvel Studios' care.

It seemed likely that Helstrom would premiere on Hulu later this year, and now that seems to be confirmed. Amidst news about Hulu's future programming, THR notes Helstrom is being included among the streamer's "Huluween" block of fall content. This means it'll likely arrive in October, and it'll be alongside other shows like Books of Blood, Bad Hair, and Monsterland.

Marvel's Helstrom

Considering how Helstrom is supposed to fit solidly within the horror genre, it makes perfect sense to drop it around Halloween. This'll likely capture more than a few subscribers' attentions as they look for something spooky to watch. At the same time, the fall release is interesting timing when considering the Disney+ shows. At this current moment, Marvel is planning to release The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in August and WandaVision in December.

This puts Helstrom right in the middle of both. While Helstrom is reportedly set within the MCU, it certainly won't have the same connections as the aforementioned shows do, which means it's unlikely they'll be marketed together or will even pose as potential competition. However, Helstrom is still a Marvel show, and that guarantees it'll get some attention. Fans should expect further updates on the latest Marvel series as fall 2020 gets closer.
