It's reported that Marvel's upcoming Disney+ Hawkeye show will begin filming this July. Joining the likes of the characters featured in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye will be the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe hero to get the television treatment. Marvel fans last glimpsed Hawkeye in his intense closing scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Unfortunately, fans didn't get to see the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Clint Barton aka Hawkeye in the Marvel TV show Agents of SHIELD given that he left the agency long ago - and because of the disconnection between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV.

Though Marvel TV was in charge of developing the television arm of the MCU, series like SHIELD, Hulu's Runaways and the Netflix Defenders shows were almost never referenced by the movies. Now, with Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb departing and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige taking on a larger role, the first era of MCU TV is ending and a new one beginning - one that will connect to the films. In 2020 alone, MCU TV shows Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision will premiere on Disney+, but there's many more to come, including Hawkeye. In addition to featuring Renner's Clint Barton, the Hawkeye show will introduce Kate Bishop, another Marvel comics character to operate under the Hawkeye mantle.

On Twitter, entertainment journalist Charles Murphy noted the Hawkeye show begins production in July. Murphy's tweet urges fans not to fret about the information they don't have yet. Hawkeye isn't set to release until Fall 2021, so a filming start of this summer is plenty of time to get the series ready. Take a look at Murphy's tweet below:

The production of this TV show is huge for the Hawkeye character, who is the only Avenger that doesn't have his own film since Black Widow's arrives this year. In the Marvel comics, Hawkeye works with the young superhero Kate Bishop, who's given the Hawkeye codename by Captain America. In Matt Fraction, David Aja and Annie Wu's Hawkeye comics, Clint and Kate become a team, and fans have long called for this particular run to be adapted for the MCU. Though it's unclear whether this exact story will be the basis of the Hawkeye show, it was confirmed when the series was announced that Kate Bishop will appear.

We don't yet know who will be cast as Bishop. It was reported that Hailee Steinfeld was offered the Kate Bishop role, but the actress herself cast doubt on it due to her commitment to the Apple TV+ series Dickinson. In the meantime, however, the Kate Bishop concept art from the upcoming show has been revealed. While the exact release date of Hawkeye is still unknown beyond the Fall 2021 window, Marvel fans can find solace in the fact that Hawkeye will finally get his own MCU project.
