Saving the universe from twisted cults and outwitting a monster collecting woman in bone armor is hard work, but someone has to do it. That's where the Guardians Of The Galaxy come in with the newest Marvel game created by Square Enix and Eidos, aptly titled: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Star-Lord and his ragtag group of criminals-turned-superheroes already feature well-designed looks, but across the many planets and environments, there are other outfits to unlock. These alternate skins range from new designs to familiar ones straight out of the comics and films, with some being better than others.

Rocket: The Stinger

Who doesn't want to see a raccoon in a fancy suit and sunglasses? It's one of many things that doesn't make much sense about Rocket, but it is still somehow appealing. This design for Rocket Raccoon was first introduced in Rocket's solo comic series. This is one of the few outfits that are more outlandish and it results in one of the more unique of Rocket's choices.

Most of Rocket's outfits in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy are rather similar except for a few odds and ends and/or a color swap. Rather than appearing like a regular criminal, Rocket looks more akin to a smooth criminal out of a Michael Jackson music video.

Rocket: The Smuggler

With a green vest, red scarf, and tight bodysuit, which was introduced in All-New Guardians Of The Guardians #1, The Smuggler outfit gives Rocket a look that fits his character. One look at him in the Smuggler outfit screams intergalactic bounty hunter.

At the same time, the suit pops and also fits that of a space superhero. The description of the outfit itself says that it fits the perfect middle ground between criminal and hero and Rocket states, "I ain't gonna lose my cool if Nova Corps pops up on my screen."

Rocket: Golden Guardian

Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy takes notes from many other similar games in many ways, including rewarding the player with brand new outfits for the final battle that are white and gold. However, instead of being a color swap, the Golden Guardians outfits are brand new armored suits designed by Rocket himself.

Rocket gets new goggles, a full set of white armor with golden plates, and more. It's sleek, dynamic, and has a proper mix of white and gold to make it appealing to the eyes.

Gamora: Casual Kill

Being the Deadliest Woman in the Galaxy doesn't always mean having to wear uncomfortable-looking attire, even though Gamora's standard design in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy is both sleek and fits her more assassin-like character.

The Casual Kill design comes from Infinity Gauntlet #2 in 2015, giving Gamora a more comfortable outfit with a leather jacket, purple bodysuit, and belt with skull buckle. It still fits Gamora's character but gives her a more casual design that allows her to blend in across the galaxy while still looking like she could wipe out a planet of cosmic villains.

Star-Lord: War-Lord

Before he was known for being the lovable music-loving goofball from Earth, this character was portrayed more akin to a rogue with a heart of gold, like Han Solo, just one of the many things only comic book fans know about Star-Lord. But the War-Lord skin suit blue uniform, golden emblem, and long white gloves give him more of a space cop design.

This design translates well into the game's high fidelity art style, giving Peter Quill a more respectable look. That's not to say that his Standard-Lord outfit is bad: it mixes the comics and movie designs together with the welcome addition of Star-Lord's codename stitched onto the back.

Drax: Standard Outfit

Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy pays tribute to both the comics and the movies when it comes to its designs. The standard outfit for Drax The Destroyer keeps the design that fans have come to love: a green-skinned warrior adorned with red tattoos across his head and body.

Where Square Enix and Eidos put their own stamp on the design is by having the red tattoos a series of spaced-out circles. It gives Drax's tattoos even more of a science-fiction look, thus making him appear to be more extraterrestrial in origin.

Gamora: Golden Guardian

Gamora's Golden Guardian design fits her style of combat: agile and light. It keeps the sleek design that her standard outfit has while decorating it with golden armor pieces over a white and black uniform. This is the outfit that most portrays the character as a superhero, which is fitting as that's what the Guardians are doing their best to be in the game.

At the same time, Golden Guardian Gamora also resembles a ninja-like warrior from another planet, as well as a daughter of Thanos, considering his love for wearing golden armor.

Star-Lord: City-Lord

Another original design by Square Enix and Eidos, the City-Lord outfit is designed as a more urban attire allowing Peter Quill to blend into places such as Knowhere and Contraxia. According to the information in-game, Gamora designed this outfit for Peter and the results are stellar.

Peter Quill wears a streamlined leather vest, hood, a loose belt, and more casual pants. Not only does it give Star-Lord a more civilian design, but it looks similar to costumes seen in the Star Wars franchise. As a bonus, this outfit brings back Star-Lord's classic blue and yellow color scheme.

Drax: Golden Guardian

Rocket seemed to keep all of the different combat and wardrobe styles of the Guardians in mind when designing his golden outfits. Drax is a bruiser in combat, relying on brute strength while delivering many hilarious moments, much like the Dave Bautista version.

The Golden Guardian outfit adorns Drax with heavy armor from top to bottom, keeping his warrior origins in mind while updating him to look the most like a superhero. A great touch is the use of golden circles in the same vein as his Catathian tattoos, showing a lot more respect for his culture than expected.

Star-Lord: Gold-Lord

Between blasters, thrusters on his boots, and a fancy retractable helmet, it's easy to call Star-Lord the intergalactic version of Iron Man. This is pushed even farther when Rocket upgrades him and the rest of the Guardians with their golden uniforms.

Star-Lord is covered head to toe in armor plating that gives him a battle-ready look, similar to the armor design seen in the Mass Effect games. Keeping with the Iron Man comparisons, Star-Lord's Golden Guardian design even features a glowing tech piece, except it is positioned over his groin: fitting Peter's often egotistical style.
