Marvel Studios has wrapped production on The Eternals, one of its most anticipated upcoming films. Based on the comic of the same name, the MCU movie will feature humanoids who were originally created by alien Celestials to defend the world. However, the Eternals end up battling the evil Deviants, the enemy of the Celestials. The Eternals are also immortal, meaning that they've had a great impact on Earth throughout time. Unlike any Marvel movie before it, The Eternals will take place over 7,000 years, allowing audiences to see the characters at many different points in history.

As filming has picked up in the last month or so, set photos have revealed some details about the movie that was previously shrouded in secrecy. For example, it was long expected that Kit Harington's Black Knight and Gemma Chan's Sersi would be a couple in the film, but set photos confirmed their romance. Fans have also gotten a look at some characters' powers up close such as Ikaris (Richard Madden), who was spotted flying on set. However, now that filming is complete, it's likely no more big details about The Eternals will be revealed until the first trailer for the film drops.

The Eternals Concept Art

The Eternals is only one film in an ambitious Phase 4 plan laid out by Marvel following Avengers: Endgame. It will not only include upcoming films like Black WidowShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and others, but also the new Disney+ series, all of which are considered part of the MCU. First up will be WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, both of which are due out this year. Loki, which reportedly cast Owen Wilson this weekwill also be a part of Phase 4 among other Disney+ shows.

Since The Eternals won't be released until November, fans still have plenty of time to speculate on the many plot details that haven't yet been revealed. However, they should be happy to know that principal photography is complete, meaning that the movie is one important step closer to making it to theaters. With a great cast, interesting concept, and expansive timeline, The Eternals should be well worth the wait.
