Two new characters are about to enter Marvel Contest Of Champions from the outer reaches of space: longtime X-Men baddie Mojo and the inter-dimensional warrior Longshot. A new online teaser trailer and subsequent press release by developer Kabam revealed that these two enemies are set to arrive in the hit mobile game later this month, with Mojo appearing to be in a supporting role while Longshot will be a fully playable character.

Released in 2014, Marvel Contest Of Champions puts players in the role of a Summoner, a servant of The Collector tasked with gathering heroes and villains from all throughout the Marvel Universe to compete in three-on-three combat to see who is the strongest. Since its release, the game has seen multiple expansions based on upcoming comic events or MCU films, adding new characters, locations, and time-specific event quests – with the newest one heading to the Mojoverse, of X-Men lore.

The trailer for this new content, which was posted on YouTube earlier today, features a motion comic of the slug-like Mojo accusing the Contest Of Champions of being “rigged” in order to maintain balanced combat between the competing godlike entities and regular mortals, and vowing to enter his own fighter into the fray - Longshot. “Thrill and chill to the violence and drama of the MojoDome as master showman LONGSHOT fights off waves of mutants! Who will survive and how much of them will be left? Smash that MojoLike button and don’t forget to subscribe!” a press release later announced, revealing that both of these characters will be coming to the game in February. In the comics, Mojo serves as the ruler of the Mojoverse, an alternate dimension where he gathers warriors from all across the multiverse to battle in twisted gladiator combat as a send-up of reality TV shows like Fear Factor. One of these unfortunate victims is the alien hero Longshot, an interstellar traveler gifted with strength, speed, enhanced healing, and the power to alter probabilities in order to increase his luck. After rebelling against the evil Mojo, he has served as a member of both the X-Men and the spin-off groups Exiles and X-Factor over the years.

Both of these characters lend themselves well to Contest Of Champions’ concept of a fighting competition across the universe and have been fairly popular in the comics. Marvel Contest Of Champions already features a vast line-up of Marvel’s iconic heroes and villains, and the additions of Longshot and Mojo will certainly be welcome for fans of the House Of Ideas’ more outlandish space adventures, which have gained more awareness and popularity in the wake of movies like Guardians Of The Galaxy and the upcoming Eternals. Players will be able to purchase these two new members of the roster when they are released later this month.
