There's a Guinness World Record for just about everything nowadays and one man has the prestigious honor of holding the record for owning more Marvel tattoos than anyone else. Ever since their humble origins publishing titles such as Journey Into Mystery, Marvel have inspired a certain level of dedication in their fanbase, leading to the formation of official clubs such as Stan Lee's own Merry Marvel Marching Society. Famously, Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin once wrote his own fan letter into Marvel Comics as a youngster, professing his love for the company's output.

The game has changed a little since then, of course. Thanks to the explosion of big-budget superhero movies, the Marvel brand has become a financial juggernaut and having Disney's seemingly bottomless pit of money behind them has helped Marvel solidify their status. And just as great power comes with great responsibility, greater exposure to a mainstream audience comes with even more dedicated fans. Recently, a Marvel fan was rewarded by the company for having seen Avengers: Infinity War over 40 times since its release.

Sitting in a theater for 100 odd hours is nothing compared to the efforts of Rick Scolamiero, however, who chose to express his love for Marvel in the tattoo parlor rather than the movie theater. Scolamiero has now officially been awarded the Guinness World Record for the most Marvel tattoos with a total of 31 pieces on his body. The 36-year old began his journey in 2011 with a Spider-Man arm piece and now boasts a huge Scarlett Johanssen as Black Widow on his side, a Stan Lee signature, a Venom piece on his knee and Vision on his butt. All his art was carried out by Tony Sklepic of Sanitarium Studios. Speaking about his love for Marvel to GWR, Scolamiero stated:

"I have been a Marvel comic lover since I was small and growing up we didn’t have much but I always had my Marvel comics and Marvel trading cards. They actually got me through some tough times so the idea of having them on my body forever just really appealed to me."

One question those not enamored in the way of tattoos may ask is whether or not the Canadian will regret his ink in old age, when the skin begins to lose definition and the artwork starts to fade. Anticipating such comments, Scolamiero believes he's more likely to regret things he didn't do, rather than things he did.

Although Marvel have armies of dedicated fans around the world, many would perhaps draw the line at getting characters permanently drawn onto their bodies, especially on over 30 separate occasions. However, these characters obviously mean an awful lot to Scolamiero and his tattoos are certainly a fitting tribute to the stories that helped him through some tough times. Of course, since Marvel gave the guy who saw Infinity War 40 times an Avengers 4 premiere ticket, they're surely going to have to find a way to reward Scolamiero too. After all, his entire body is essentially giving Marvel free advertising wherever he goes.
