This October, Marvel will chart a brand new, epic direction for Venom, and now the company has provided a first look at this highly-anticipated new series. Venom #1 will be written by Al Ewing and Ram V with art by Bryan Hitch, and will be on sale in print and digital October 13.

If any one character in the Marvel Universe has been put through their paces over the last few years, it is Venom. First, he discovered he had a long-lost son named Dylan with symbiote powers of his own. Then, he learned of the existence of the horrifying King in Black, AKA Knull, the dark god of the symbiotes. The King in Black then led an invasion of Earth, and was almost successful, but was turned back by Earth’s heroes, led by an Enigma Force-enhanced Eddie Brock. After Knull’s defeat, Eddie became the king of the symbiotes, and Dylan has bonded with the old Venom symbiote. Now Venom’s life shows no signs of slowing down, as award-winning writers Ram V and Al Ewing team up with superstar artist Bryan Hitch to tell the next story in the Venom saga.

Marvel has provided a first look at Hitch’s cover for Venom #1 and while the press release provided little in the way of plot or story information, it described the series as “mind-bending” and “gut-wrenching.” Hitch’s cover captures Venom in all his symbiote glory, brandishing a chain and heading into battle. In the press release, writer Ram V called working on the title a “thrill” and praised Ewing and Hitch as well. Ram V promised the story would “expand and push” the Venom mythos, taking it to new and horrifying places.

Writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman set the bar high with their epic run on Venom, introducing new elements and changing the character forever, and Al Ewing, Ram V, and Bryan Hitch are poised to top it. Both Ewing and Ram have distinguished themselves on horror-themed books such as Immortal Hulk and Justice League Dark and they will bring this sensibility to Venom. Bryan Hitch needs very little introduction, having illustrated some of the industry’s top books and characters, and now he is turning his attention to Venom, bringing with him his eye for attention and detail. Venom has experienced a renaissance in the past few years, and this new book looks to continue that.

The superstar creative team of writers and artists is set to take Venom to new heights this October with Venom #1. It will send the symbiote off in a bold new direction, with top talent at the helm.
