Warning: SPOILERS for Invaders #10

Namor the Sub-Mariner hates one thing more than anything else in the world: humans. And Marvel Comics just turned him into the things he despises most, by taking away his water-breathing powers. And needless to say, he's more than a little upset.

Namor has been at odds with land dwellers many times over the course of his comic book existence, most recently attacking humans with a chemical weapon that gives them the ability to breath underwater (and takes away their ability to breath above water). In Invaders #10, Captain America and Bucky get the power to venture into Atlantis and confront Namor. The only problem with that is there is no cure... until now!

After Cap and Bucky invade Atantis, the fight gets brought to the surface where Cap struggles to breathe. When the villainous Roxxon Corporation enters the picture, Namor and Cap get blasted with a lungful of what seems to be the long sought antidote. The results take away Captain America's newfound ability to breath underwater... but they also take away Namor's ability to do the same. Making him nothing but an an ordinary human.

Namor on Beach with Captain America Comic

Because Namor is half-Atlantean and half-human, he has always been able to survive both on land, and in the water. But that isn't the case anymore. The last page of Invaders #10 shows just how Namor feels about becoming the thing he hates most in this world. Sure, Namor does have other powers besides being able to breath underwater, but readers can only assume those are gone from him as well. But what does this mean for the city of Atlantis? Can they handle being in an all out war without their fearless leader to help guide them? Readers can assume Namor just needs to be hit with a dose of his own medicine, so to speak, but seeing as he has washed up on an empty island and has no more super-human abilities, how would he be exposed to it?

With Namor and his old teammate stuck on a deserted island -- with no powers between the two of them -- things aren't looking too good. Will they be able to put aside their differences in order to escape? And if they do, will Namor end up with a new appreciation for the humans he despises? Or will he grow to hate them even more? Only time will tell -- find out when Invaders #11 hits shelves on November 13th!
