When Nebula Attacks, LOKI is Earth's Only Hope

When a mysterious figure formed a new team of Asgardians of the Galaxy, there weren't many fans who expected that it was Loki doing the organizing of a heroic strike team. But even former villains have to draw the line somewhere. And Nebula, Daughter of Thanos getting her hands on the greatest undead army in the universe? That's precisely where Loki draws his.

When last we left the Asgardians of the Galaxy in Issue #4, they had found themselves in familiar territory. Sure, they were a bit less 'ragtag' than the canceled Guardians of the Galaxy that they were replacing, but also couldn't help but run afoul of the Nova Corps. As our exclusive preview of Asgardians of the Galaxy #5 reveals, their prison break and abduction has put them on a collision course with Nebula... and hoping they're not too late to save Earth.

As the Asgardians rush to catch up to Nebula, their leader, Kid Loki (a younger, reborn version of Thor's brother) has found himself a Prisoner on board her spaceship. After finally seeking Thor's help to protect Midgard from Nebula and her army, Loki wound up in her clutches along with the god of thunder. He now has only his wits to rely on, and even for Loki, that might not be enough.

There's always been a sliding scale of "evil villains" when it comes to Marvel Comic team-ups, which is the only reason why it makes any sense at all that Loki has become Earth's only hope. Sure, he may be a god of mischief, chaos, and lies... but next to the daughter of Thanos, somebody with those skills might just play the hero before long. Of course, with future issues of Asgardians promising "a run-in with Yondu Udonta and his … new Ravagers" its clear that this series' twists and turns are far from over. But before fans get to rejoice at the return of Planet Terry, Pip, and Kammi, Earth and the Asgardian heroes will need to live to see it.

Whether Kid Loki and his pet Destroyer remain on the team, or become their next target remains to be seen. But until then, read on for the full synopsis and details below:
