The Marvel Universe is filled with both monsters and monster hunters. From the vampire slayer, Blade, to the Spirit of Vengeance, Ghost Rider, there is no end to the pain and suffering that the supernatural beings face from the heroes.

One such monster hunter is the legendary Elsa Bloodstone. Armed with her powerful Bloodgem, an arsenal of weapons, and a volley of curse words, she has been monster slaying for decades. But, given that she has made few appearances outside the comics, only those who have read her comics would know the facts that make this monster hunter an interesting character.

Her Father Was A Monster HunterUlysses Bloodstone, father of Elsa Bloodstone, holding a gun

Given her amazing skills and strong fighting capabilities, some fans wouldn't be surprised to hear that Elsa came from a long line of talented monster hunters. Her father, Ulysses Bloodstone, was also one of the most legendary monster hunters in the world.

Ulysses was kept alive through the power of his Bloodgem, which gave him superhuman abilities and immortality. Sadly, though, Ulysses eventually would meet his end after the Bloodgem was removed from his body. While he would cling to life long enough to defeat the Helix, his body eventually aged up, crumbling to nothing but dust and bones on the ground.

Her Childhood Was Brutal

Ulysses Bloodstone wasn't exactly a loving father to Elsa or her brother, Cullen. In fact, he was brutal man who pushed his children to the brink.

Much like John Winchester in Supernatural, (who is about to return in the upcoming Winchesters show), Ulysses trained his children hard. He forced Elsa to fight a Blight Beast when she was only a baby, he tossed her into a mass of Great White Sharks to get rid of her weakness, and she had to fight a Qlippoth for her first kill. Even worse was that Ulysses framed his wife, Elise, for these brutalities, getting her sent away to psychiatric facility.

Her Powers Come From Her Bloodstone ChokerElsa Bloodstone wearing her infamous choker in the comics

Though some of her powers came from inherited abilities from her father (such as an immunity to vampire bites), many of Elsa's greatest powers come from her Bloodstone choker.

This choker grants Elsa superhuman strength, agility, and a healing factor. The gem can also unleash blasts of energy, strong enough to blow away even the strongest of monsters. While Elsa has had trouble controlling this particular ability, her control over the energy blasts has greatly improved ever since she received her bloodstone hand.

She Joined NextwaveElsa Bloodstone looking serious with her crew

While Elsa has mostly worked alone, she has worked together on teams in the past, one of the most notable teams being Nextwave.

Though not one of the best superhero teams out there, Nextwave was comprised of members kidnaped by Dirk Anger and moved to another reality. When the truth came out, Elsa and the other members of Nextwave went rogue, setting out on their own to fight against threats like Fin Fang Foom and the Beyond Corporation, all while evading Dirk and his forces from recapturing them.

This position on the staff allowed Elsa to keep an eye on her brother, Cullen, whom she had just rescued from another realm where had been stranded for years after being left behind by Ulysses (who died before being able to go back to retrieve him). Sadly, her watchful eye on Cullen wouldn't help him as he and other young heroes would be abducted by Arcade to take part in the Avengers Arena event.

She Was A Part Of Doctor Doom's AvengersDoctor Doom's Avengers running together

Elsa certainly has never been a part of any official Avengers team. But there was a time when she was part of a team of the sort, led by known other than Doctor Doom.

During the AXIS event, in which many heroes and villains had their personalities inverted, Doctor Doom and Valeria Richards summoned many heroes to Latveria, where they defended the country from a now evil Scarlet Witch (who was coming to kill Doom). The heroes managed to save the lives of Latverian citizens and contain a part of Scarlet Witch's powers before the latter escaped to hunt Doom down.

She Fought Zombies On BattleworldElsa Bloodstone fighting zombies in the comics

There are many zombie versions of superheroes in the Marvel universe, and Elsa had to fight off a good many of them at one point.

But when she was teleported into the Deadlands, she was forced to fight for her life against multiple zombie warriors, including the undead form of her father, to get back to the safety of Battleworld.

She Mentored Kid KaijuElsa Bloodstone & Kid Kaiju talking in the comics

Monsters Unleashed was an event that was designed to purely to shove even more giant monsters into the Marvel Universe and have the superheroes fight them. She Partnered With DeadpoolElsa Bloodstone & Deadpool kissing in the comics

Deadpool is one of the best mercenaries in Marvel Comics, and, at one point, Elsa partnered up with him for a time.

During Deadpool's reign as the King of the Monsters, Elsa worked by his side, making sure that the monsters were kept in line. The two even teamed up to kill the Bone Beast Queen, where the Merc with a Mouth started to develop feelings for Elsa - going so far as to blow himself up to save her life and defeat the monster. Elsa later found his head and watched over him while he regenerated.

She Joined The Midnight SunsElsa Bloodstone standing with Midnight Suns

With a titular game on the way, the Midnight Suns have grown more in prominence in recent years. And Elsa was a member of the latest iteration of the team.

After Las Vegas became overrun with Mephisto's demons and the Avengers turned into Ghost Riders, Wong formed a new team of Midnight Suns, including Elsa, Blade, and Man-Thing. The group battled against Mephisto and the corrupted, overrun city, with Johnny Blaze eventually stealing Mephisto's throne and becoming the King of Hell in the process.
