Marvel TV has released a new poster for their upcoming TV series, Cloak & Dagger. Starring Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt, the series promises to bring these two popular street-level superheroes to life as a "divine pairing" this summer, which will be the latest teen-centered Marvel series to debut following Marvel's Runaways.

Created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan back in 1982, Cloak (Tyrone Johnson) and Dagger (Tandy Bowen) are two teen runaways who become bearers of tremendous power. They are a classic yin-and-yang pair, with Cloak drawing on the forces of darkness and Dagger wielding the power of light. Marvel Studios originally planned a Cloak & Dagger movie several years ago but eventually passed the characters to Marvel TV instead. And now, they're about to make their MCU debut as stars of their own TV series, launching on Freeform on June 7.

With marketing now in full gear, Marvel has released a brand new poster for Cloak & Dagger on social media. It perfectly captures the light-and-dark dynamic of the series, with Olivia Holt's amber eyes giving her an almost otherworldly air, while Aubrey Joseph appearing noble as he stands in the shadows.

The Cloak & Dagger pilot episode aired at SXSW 2018, and received positive reactions from both fans and critics alike. The performances of Holt and Joseph were praised as "the reason to watch," while the show promises to be incredibly relevant. It's set in New Orleans instead than New York, a deliberate decision that allows the series to explore the city post-Katrina. Trailers have promised that Cloak & Dagger will be strongly tied to the rest of the wider MCU; in the comics, Cloak is tied to the Darkforce, a mysterious energy that has already been featured in both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. Meanwhile, the trailers have lingered upon a shot of Cloak materializing on the roof of a building marked with the ROXXON logo.

This latest poster was released on Twitter, which was accompanied by a simple comment; "It always comes down to two people, the divine pairing." Recent marketing has focused on this concept of "the divine pairing," with Cloak & Dagger's final trailer hinting that the titular characters are bound together in some mystical or spiritual way. The pair were warned that "A crisis is coming, and it is close." Only time will tell what that crisis may be.

Cloak & Dagger marks Marvel's second foray into the realm of young adult drama, as previously mentioned, following the success of Runaways. In this case, however, this marks Marvel's first partnership with Freeform, another Disney-owned network that operates under the ABC Television Group.
