Marvel's upcoming Freeform series Cloak & Dagger announces a new trailer and unveils a poster featuring the titular superheroes. The TV side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown a great deal since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. first debuted on ABC in 2013. Nearly five years later, Netflix has their own corner of the MCU with its street-level NYC superheroes, who star in six separate shows. Plus, ABC has tried their hand at two more TV series with Inhumans and the now-canceled Agent Carter, while Hulu launched their first Marvel show last year with Runaways. There are still more shows upcoming, though, including Freeform's Cloak & Dagger.

Freeform's first Marvel TV series stars Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen aka. Dagger and Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson aka. Cloak. The series adapts the eponymous Marvel Comics superheroes for a modern day drama. Like the comics, the show will focus on the teenaged superheroes and their love story as they learn about and begin to use their powers, all while growing closer. Given Cloak & Dagger is aimed at a younger audience than Marvel's ABC and Netflix series, Freeform is no doubt a perfect fit for the show. Though the Cloak & Dagger premiere date was previously revealed, Marvel and Freeform now announce a new trailer.

The official Cloak & Dagger Twitter account revealed a new poster featuring Tandy and Tyrone demonstrating their respective powers. As Cloak, Tyrone can engulf others around him in darkness and transport them to the Darkforce dimension. As Dagger, Tandy wields light daggers, like the one she's holding in the poster. In addition to unveiling the poster, Marvel and Freeform also revealed a new trailer will arrive tomorrow at 9am PST/12pm EST. Take a look at the poster below:

The first episode of Marvel's Cloak and Dagger premiered recently at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, where it received largely positive early reactions from critics and fans. However, those who weren't able to attend the premiere screening will be able to catch the official TV debut later this year in June. The first episode was written by series showrunner Joe Pokaski and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Of course, this new Cloak & Dagger trailer won't be the first, as Marvel and Freeform have released teasers and sneak peeks over the past few months. Filming on Cloak & Dagger wrapped in November of last year, and it's taking the series some time to get to air. However, considering the praise that the pilot has received, it's likely the 10-episode first season of the series will be a success once it premieres this summer - no matter how connected it is to the rest of the MCU.

It's unclear how exactly the Cloak & Dagger connects to the MCU, but we do know that it will reference the Roxxon Oil Corporation. (A part of a Roxxon sign even appears in the new poster.) The company has played a role in fellow Marvel TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, and Daredevil. So, it's a pretty strong tie to other MCU properties. It's possible the new trailer will offer some insight into how much Cloak and Dagger connects to the MCU, but even if it doesn't, it will certainly give fans a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming Freeform Marvel TV series.
