Marvel is expanding their television reach to Freeform with Cloak & Dagger and filming is set to resume next month to complete season 1. The story of Tandy Bowen and Ty Johnson will bring a love story angle to the superhero genre while turning the attention to a younger demographic. This is why Marvel chose Freeform as the platform for the two love struck heroes, and started production on the pilot back in February. Since that point it has been revealed that entire first season will be ten episodes long, but production had not yet started back up to film the remaining nine episodes.

Still, Freeform has provided a glimpse at the tone of the show by releasing an early trailer consisting of footage just from the pilot. That said, with an early 2018 release eyed, filming must resume eventually, and it turns out it will actually start back up next month.

Cloak & Dagger has recently found its way back onto Production Weekly's listings and has been listed as "Marvel's Cloak & Dagger 02." The numbers typically refer to the season for which the show is filming and could be why SpoilerTV reported that the series would actually begin filming its second season in July. This filming is said to take place until October, but unless Marvel and Freeform managed to film the entirety of season 1 in secret, these listings should actually be for the remainder of season one.

This four month production timeline should give them plenty of time to film the remaining nine episodes. This allows for almost two weeks of filming per episode, which is pretty standard for most shows. As the July start gets closer, word should come out on potential future cast members - to join the other supporting characters announced -  and who else will direct the series. Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the pilot, but it is not expected for her to direct future episodes with her blossoming film career - including her directing Silver and Black for Sony's Spiderverse.

Once filming picks up again, it should be interesting to see what other info on the season and the arc becomes available. The trailer made it apparent that Olivia Holt (Dagger) and Aubrey Joseph (Cloak) will be front and center and portrayed as destined lovers. Plus, with the Marvel recurring company of Roxxon being shown as well, this could be the first of many connections that the show has to other MCU properties. And, with Freeform doubling down on Marvel properties by picking up New Warriors, the two could potentially cross over in these final nine episodes.
