The MCU is one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time. Weaving together one long-term story, spanning almost 30 movies, all of which stand alone as unique films yet piece together into one, isn't an easy task, especially with so many characters.
However, even though that is great and the comedy is fantastic, it really is all about the fight scenes. After all, these are action movies, big popcorn eating blockbusters that audiences enjoy seeing, and that's down to the huge battles. Thankfully, the MCU has got that aspect spot on as well.
This list will look at all of the MCU movies and the epic final battle scenes that they all have, picking the 10 best so far.
Ant-Man (2015)
Since Ant-Man brings in a lot of comedic moments, the incredible fight scenes often get overlooked, but this movie has one of the best big fight scenes to wrap up the main plot. Even though it's technically not a 'big' fight due to the size of the characters, it is incredibly unique.
The fight scene brings the audience down to their size in an interesting way with some of it taking place inside of a briefcase with the use of the iPhone being a genius touch. There's humor with Thomas The Tank Engine, and plenty of size gags, but the action itself is masterfully done with this being a very different, but very entertaining final battle.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)
Anytime that the MCU is able to bring a bunch of characters together, it always opens up the possibility for epic final battle scenes. Avengers: Age Of Ultron is no different in that regard. This has so much going on all at once that it feels epic and worthy of the MCU status.
With Ultron being an incredibly powerful character and an entire city being on the line, Marvel does a great job of balancing things. There are huge stakes with the fights, yet there is still time for some detailed and quieter moments, which makes for a lot of emotion to be added into it.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2011)
There is something about a Captain America fight scene that is just entertaining to watch, especially within his own world. He has the most relatable fighting abilities out of all the characters for the world to watch, and that's what made this film so good.
It wasn't about over the top powers, it was about two best friends having incredible fights in what was essentially a spy thriller. The final battle scene with Cap, the Winter Soldier and Falcon is tons of fun to watch and is insanely tense throughout, with each man seemingly meeting their match.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Thor is one of the greatest characters that the MCU has to offer, and he's been involved in some pretty special fight scenes. But it wasn't until Thor: Ragnarok that he got an amazingly memorable final battle scene, and it really was one of the greatest in Marvel history.
With Led Zepplin's "Immigrant Song" blaring along, the visuals as Thor regains all his powers and launches into the masses is simply fantastic. Add in Hulk brawling with a huge wolf and Loki teaming up with his brother, there's a lot to unpack with some bright colors flying around all mixing together for a fantastic scene.
Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
This final battle scene was actually ended by a dance-off, which might seem utterly ridiculous on paper. However, it fits the theme of this movie to perfection and was an ideal way to end things in what remains one of the MCU's strongest outings.
However, it isn't all about busting moves as the final battle scene for Guardians Of The Galaxy is absolutely epic. Whether it be the huge space battles that take place or the fights on the ground, with Groot having to take one for the team, it's great. It has stakes, emotions, and still brings out the laughs, creating an epic finish.
Black Panther (2018)
Unlike most of the MCU movies on this list, Black Panther is less about fancy and flashy powers and more about amazing hand to hand combat. Whether it be athletic fighting with a mixture of MMA and wrestling style competition, or traditional, old-school weapons which brought a totally different vibe to the scenes.
However, when that was mixed in with the amazing technology that Wakanda has with the fights in the air or the stunning visuals that were created, the scenes at the end of Black Panther really were special.
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Even though this movie was firmly focused on having the popular MCU heroes fight against each other, which isn't something that should typically be enjoyable, this was incredibly well done. The story made sense and while a lot of time was spent building the tension, it certainly paid off.
Of course, the film was all about the epic airport scene which saw all of the MCU heroes trading off and battling with some amazing combination attacks. However, the final battle scene was actually the deeply personal brawl that featured Captain America and The Winter Soldier against Iron Man. It was a fantastic trade-off that was physical and very emotional.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
The whole purpose of Marvel splitting up the latest two Avengers movies was to give each story the right amount of time. Avengers: Infinity War was all about a war, as the title suggests. Because of that, the expectations for the fight scenes within this movie were always going to be high.
After some solid set up, Marvel wasted no time in creating a mammoth warfare that saw casualties with major heroes falling through The Snap. The film had Thanos in action against one group, while Black Panther led a literal army in Wakanda, creating some amazing scenes that lived up to the billing.
The Avengers (2012)
This movie may now often get overlooked by a lot of fans due to the popularity and scale of the many films which followed, but the original moment that The Avengers joined forces was an epic one. The core characters had been followed in their individual films and then throughout this one getting to the epic point where the camera pans around the group in a circle together.
Seeing each member of the original group, albeit much smaller than later movies, finally together is an epic moment that fans absolutely loved. While they all got their individual moments showcasing their talents, it was when they came together that they finally dominated the enemy and got hold of Loki.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
There was only ever going to be one movie that could top this list, and that is the highest-grossing movie of all time, Avengers: Endgame. The final battle scene of this film had to be epic considering it was bringing an end to the incredible storyline that had spanned over every single MCU movie until that point.
Bringing together all the top heroes throughout the MCU together with the epic portals scene that remains one of the best moments in cinematic history. The battle scene had so much going on, from the interactions between characters and Captain America using Mjolnir all the way to the emotional snap scene, it was simply perfect.
