From former Hydra Headquarters to mythical palaces in Asgard, there are plenty of buildings from across this cinematic universe which beautifully portray just how diverse the Marvel property really. With some fantastic visual designs, linked back to architecture from the comic books themselves, there are some truly impressive buildings in the movies and TV shows.

The Triskelion

Agents of SHIELD Cliffhanger Triskelion

The Triskelion has become a very important building within S.H.I.E.L.D.'s history. As one of its key HQs, a lot of vital events have taken place in this structure. The building has evolved as the MCU has grown and has even seen all manner of timelines.

From the Helicarriers crashing into it during the peak of Hydra's rise, to Hydra's takeover of the facility thanks to the Framework, a lot has happened with the Triskelion. It has been destroyed countless times and even sported the Hydra logo, but it will forever be an impressive and intimidating structure.

Royal Palace of Valaskjalf

A wide shot of Asgard in Thor.

Asgard is home to many beautiful buildings. Indeed, while fans may be hopeful for some beloved characters to return in Loki, it would certainly be spectacular to see a version of Asgard on the small screen once again, after its destruction at the hands of Surtur.

The key location amongst all of these amazing structures is that of the Palace of Valaskjalf. The home of Odin and his family, this is a ceremonial building which Thor and Loki grew up in. It's the key to the throne and perhaps one of the most memorable locations in all of the MCU.

The Raft

The Raft

Even the most charming and charismatic of villains couldn't talk their way out of the Raft. A facility known to hold the most dangerous of criminals from throughout the MCU, fans have witnessed the likes of Hawkeye and Falcon kept prisoner within its walls.

With the Abomination and other such villains rumored to be in there, the prison can really hold just about anyone. The most impressive thing about this structure though is that it can submerge itself underwater, making it a real feat to be able to break into or out of.

Nova Corps HQ

Nova Corps HQ

The Nova Corps are the police of their corner of the galaxy, trying to protect a multitude of planets from some of the most terrifying threats in the universe. Their HQ was truly something to behold. The Nova Corps fashioned a structure that could work in many ways.

It houses a prison, a working facility, and even sports their impressive logo. It's a mighty structure that was unfortunately in the path of the destructive Thanos. Nonetheless, hopefully it can return in some form, perhaps even in the Christmas Special that Marvel is planning.

Wakanda Citadel

Wakanda Citadel in Black Panther

Wakanda is known for its complete technical marvels. Thanks to the presence of Vibranium this civilization has managed to craft a number of impressive structures, which have a fascinating number of uses.

For the Wakandan royal family, there is the Citadel, a structure designed to be used within the nation's politics and acts as a location of hope and democracy. It blends in well with the rest of the city and as Shuri continues to develop her own technology in the Black Panther suits, her discoveries are often applied to the architecture of Wakanda.

Sanctum Sanctorum

Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum

The Sanctum Sanctorum is one of the most vital locations in all of the MCU. Not only is it a direct adaptation of the famous Bleecker Street address that Doctor Strange inhabits, but it's also a part of the much larger mystical barrier that protects the Earth.

A building linked to others across the world, including in London and Hong Kong, the Sanctum Sanctorum is an unbelievable combination of modern New York architecture and mystical innovation. Fans are certainly curious to see more of it throughout the future of the MCU.

Avengers/Stark Tower

Doctor Strange Easter Eggs Avengers Tower

First Stark tower, before it became the Avengers tower, this building has become the central point of the MCU. Located in New York, it continues to change as the universe expands further.

It's currently awaiting new residents; with rumors circulating that it could either be Norman Osborn or the Fantastic Four. Needless to say, not only is this tower quite vital to the MCU narrative, but its structure is also impressive. It really has become an iconic cinematic symbol.

The Grandmaster's Palace

Grandmaster Palace

The Grandmaster is many things. While fans don't know absolutely everything about him, his personality is very obvious. He's obnoxious, loud, and loves to be in control. His personal palace manages to imply all of these things beautifully.

The structure itself manages to contain many easter eggs for fans to dissect. It's also quite intimidating compared to the rest of Sakaar, with the Grandmaster obviously demonstrating his stake in society. The colors and quirky design makes this building completely unique.

Avengers HQ

Avengers Mansion may not have turned up yet; nor has Avengers Island. Avengers Tower has been sold off, which means the team needs a new HQ. Tony Stark put together two variations of the modern Headquarters.

Both have a number of similarities, although the second version had only just finished in its remodeling before it was blown to bits by Thanos. It's unclear where the group will settle next, although this facility really was the HQ of the team's dreams.

Hydra Research Base

Hydra Resarch Base

Hydra's research base appears to be haunting the Scarlet Witch even now, as it once did the Avengers. This facility in Sokovia is an intimidating structure. The castle feels as if it was always created to be a prison.

Not only is it easily defended, thanks to its positioning high on a mountain, but it seems almost indestructible. It makes a lot of sense that Hydra would choose such a terrifying place for the organization to settle.
